Just a heads up, ymmv but we only use ours 3 times a year. Its worth it because we have the space to store it.. you can pretty much get the same effect using a frying pan and something to put pressure on top of the sandwich but it takes slightly longer because you have to flip

I agree. While the panini press is slightly more versatile, it won't get used much. On the other hand, I used one of these through most of college. I kinda want to buy this one now:

Everyone's uses are different. I could use a panini press 3-5 times a week. This particular one is small. For about $12 more you can get a hamilton beach with a true 10x12 cooking surface area.
