The expanse is one of my favorite series/tv shows. That said, this is a collection of the novellas and each takes place before/between/after the series so they won't make sense unless you read the entire book series. Great price though for it.
All of the seasons of the tv show and all the books, including these short stories are great. The short stories are integrated in to the TV shows as part of some episodes. The last 2 books and 2 seasons really diverged though for multiple reasons - still both great in their own ways.

If you are a fan of the tv show, then definitely check out the books. Similarly, if you are a fan of the books, then definitely check out the tv show.
Great price. Check Libby, though. I was able to borrow all of these for free through the library.

If I'm as of yet, neither? 😀

I started the TV show, but felt it was slow. Then stopped and haven't been back. Keep hearing how good it is so I might give it another whirl.

It starts out as a slow burn since it takes place in a complex setting. Most of the first season could be better too.

The show is the best adaptation of a book series that I've ever seen in my life. (I'm very choosy about this.) The writers (two people who share a pen name) were integral to the show and they and the rest of the writing team did an amazing job of streamlining and reworking some parts and characters.

One of the reasons the show can take three or four episodes to get into is that the characters are "whole" people; they're complicated. They do good things and bad things, and there's no indication of whether you're supposed to like them or think they're awful. You're left to make those judgments for yourself, and 12 different people would probably have 15 different perspectives on them.

The best part of the series imo is the theme of showing the best and worst aspects of humanity alongside one another. We can move ships fast enough to settle people out in the asteroid belt near Jupiter, but living there is some hardscrabble settler business. People on Earth no longer have to work for a living (there aren't enough jobs to go around for 30 billion people), but living on the government's basic assistance (food and supplies only, no money without a job) is a terrible life in other ways. Like the more that changes, the more things stay the same!

Highly recommended!

Oh this is just the novellas collection. The description made it confusing at first and would've been the deal of the year if it included all of the main books.

The short stories definitely stand on their own. You don't need to be familiar with the main books to follow the short stories, though it would help if you do.

Favorite book series, rereading them for the second time. Show is also really good too. Novellas aren't as good as the main series but they're good short reads as well

I restarted a couple of times on the first few episodes and gave. But based on the internet and people that said watch a few more, I tried a third time I think by episode I was hooked (had the characters mostly straight) and watched all of it. Totally worth it.

Personally, I preferred the TV show to the books. I feel that there was more development there. The books were OK, but I didn't love them compared to the show.
