I'm leary of anything cheap with 12 pt sockets. They round bolts on rusted ones on vehicles in my experience. Lots of salt in the midwest.
Same Chinese manufacturer as Milwaukee
Agreed. 12 point sucks

The Hart store brand from Walmart, in my experience, is on par with Huskey and Kobalt store brands from Home Depot and Lowe's .

Great for the home gamer. Just don't expect tool truck quality from this set that's less then a benji.

129 piece when you subtract all the filler bits to get it up to 215.

In case someone looking at this didn't notice... this has no wrenches, so imho this isn't a all in one "starter" type of mechanics set like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PXN00BS (picked this up for $99 on an SD a year or so ago, and even with inflation I still see these at $100 regularly). I certainly wouldn't ONLY have this in the car as an emergency kit with no wrenches... no pliers, etc.
IKR...almost half the set is a universal screwdriver with 85 bits of little use,and who doesn't already have a box full of allen wrenches?,rather have a set of combo wrenches.

A great selling strategy would be to add about 10 different versions of a 10mm socket to a set, that would get 'em out the door.

I bought this last time. The set is heavy and made with high quality metal. However, there is serious engineer problems. The distance between the bolt opening and wrench opening in socket is too far. And I couldn't loose bolts that could be loosen by other set because the socket couldn't grab the bolt. Probably an advantage to thick bolt head though?

Bought this 6 months ago when $99 was the normal price.
Not a bad set but the little ball that holds the socket on on one of the extensions fell out before I ever even used it.
also no wrenches hard to call it a starter set with no wrenches

found it and that seller has no review and their page says 'just launched'. That's more suspicious than an eBay listing.

Pittsburg makes that, for 16 bucks I think. its 9 different types of 10mm sockets.

What brands don't do this?

Late reply however Dewalts tool sets offer ALL 6 pt sockets. I have a few of them and honestly I don't believe I have come across a 12 pt socket from Dewalt. No reason for 12 pt sockets when many of todays ratchets are higher tooth count therefore require less of a swing arc. The manufacturers of these tool kits need to get on board like Dewalt has!

12-point sockets are handy for breaker bars, offering twice as many positions to get the angle right, and are essential for the odd 12-point bolt that you may run across.

Both AvE and Torque Test Channel have tested 12-point tools to perform well above the torque needed to break a 6-point fastener, as long as it's a decent quality tool with a decent fit and the nut/bolt isn't already rounded, damaged, or rusted to hell.

So if you're using good tools on good bolts, there's little need to worry about the 6-point/12-point debate, and there are times that 12-point may be necessary or make things easier. But if you've got a poor fit on a damaged fastener, 6-point will increase your chances of success.
