4080 12gb and 4080 16gb are completely different GPUs

4080 12gb is supposed to be as fast a one 3090ti
4080 16gb is supposed to be up to 2x as fast a 3080ti(doubt)
4090 is supposed to be up to 2x as fast as a 3090ti(doubt)

I think everyone should wait for reviews. With 3000 series flooding the market, those cards should be good enough for almost everything out there for a fraction of the cost.

With DLSS 3 reserved for 4000 series only, and with the prices being as stupid as they are, DLSS 3 won't see market penetration as well as DLSS 2, and nVidia has effectively fragmented the market. So now developers need to either consider using the older DLSS 2 and market towards a larger demographic, or use DLSS 3 and market towards almost no one.

Crypto no longer uses GPU to mine so miners are dumping inventory which will lower prices.

Scalpers are stuck with large numbers of GPUs and they're dumping inventory which will lower prices.

TSMC refused to lower nVidia's production capacity, so they will be oversupplied which will lower prices.

Almost everyone that wanted a 3000 series card has gotten one at this point which will lower prices.

A small chunk of individuals will be upgrading to 4000 series and sell their old 3000 series which will lower prices.

nVidia doesn't have the miner market anymore. They will suffer greatly from these prices long-term. The fervent will upgrade immediately no matter what you tell them.

For the rest of us, WAIT. The 3080ti will be the card to get in just a few months time as reality slowly settles in.

Heres the problem. Some of us have waited for almost 2 years lol. I'm not paying 1200+ for a 4080 16GB but its unlikely we see 3XXX prices hit super low (like the 3080 12GB going for sub 500 dollars) any time soon with the reveal of these prices.

Its been mentioned several times before that Jensen is trying to control the bottom falling out on 3XXX pricing. Now with today's reveal that's only been confirmed. A 650-700 dollar 3080 12GB looks pretty damn good in comparison.

All the people who said to HODL looking really dumb right now. I know I'll get DV for this but today showed that our only hope is for AMD to piledrive these asinine prices.

And thats just FE pricing. You can bet non-reference cards will be 50-100+ dollars more than that.

I can tell you didn't read my post.

Jensen can't control the market being flooded by scalpers and miners. Retailers will refuse to take any more cards from nVidia if they are already at capacity. Shelf space in stores and warehouses are a commodity. They will be FORCED to hold sales and drop prices constantly.

All the people who said HODL were RIGHT. Prices fell IMMENSELY in the past few months. They will continue to nosedive.

AMD has shown absolutely no initiative in bringing any real competition in the past several years, I don't know how or why people still believe AMD is "for the people". They're exactly the same as nVidia, just red instead of green. "Pildedrive these prices" just like they piledrives the prices for the 3000 series and intel CPUs RIGHT? no, wait, that never happened.

I did, I just don't agree. If today's pricing on the 4XXX series didn't convince you, nothing will.
Prices will fall yes, but don't expect a 400 dollar 3080 12GB any time soon.

Prices did fall immensely yes, but now you are getting to a point of diminishing returns. You make it sound like you know the micro-economics situation better than Nvidia does. They know exactly what they are doing. Nvidia is trying to get rid of their 3xxx cards and they can do exactly that now the 4xxx prices are absolutely insane. It's called price anchoring. Once those are gone, 4xxx prices will likely come down.

And no I don't expect AMD to do anything. I said "hope" which is basically the same as crossing my fingers. I don't expect it to happen but they have an opportunity to undercut Nvidia somewhat especially since their whole stick is "performance per watt". Thats code word for "we can't compete with Nvidia in terms of raw power, so we are doing it on the efficiency front".

You can save this and shove it in my face if I am wrong. I am able to admit being wrong.

Again, nVidia has little to no control over the prices of the 3000 series at this point. You are underestimating how many GPU's they short-sightedly sold to miners and scalpers in hopes of maximizing short-term profit. You waited 2 years and you've already forgotten what the problem in the first place was (Hint: It wasn't enough manufacturing capacity)

Regardless, if you're hoping AMD will lower prices, then you're waiting, just like I said. Nov. 3rd is RDNA 3 reveal date with release likely around a month after. So whether you agree with me or not, you're waiting.

And if you're so certain that you're right, stop responding and go buy a GPU now. Smilie

I want to get a 4090. Already have a 3080 from release, paid MSRP.

I'm going to wait. Either one of two things will happen.

1) prices will drop and I'll get what I want

Or

2) prices won't drop and I'll save over $1000.

Either case, I can't lose.

In this academic world you live in, is communism working too?

You clearly don't remember nvidia controlling the 10xx pricing or 9xx pricing pre crypto. They literally will hold prices for as long as inventory exists. They literally held the 1080 price all the way to the 3 series launch lol. Why do you think the 4070 was delayed until March next year, they forecasted out the 3080 demand.

Free market only exists when managed pricing by contract doesn't. Nvidia is notorious for holding prices as retailers will as they don't want to take a write off either.

Please hold your breath for $400 retail new 3080s...between that and cure for cancer....I bet cure for cancer.

Why do you think evga just walked away...
