They are "Powered" wired headphones. They have a battery that boosts the output of the headphones vs being powered by the 3.5 mm alone.

I'm more than a little confused on the headphones. 12 hour battery life for a wired pair of headphones?

And Battle Buds sounds like something my 5 year old would watch.

Would like some buds with a boom mic. Some reviews say they won't stay in ear and that the mic sucks. Still, at this price, it's worth a go? Currently $18 at BB.

(i'm dumb I realize you likely meant the battery in the headphones now).

I've had these earbuds for about 3 years now, and I almost exclusively use them over my Razer over the ear. They stay in my ear just fine with the hook tips. The boom is flexible and easy to move to a good position for chat parties to hear you. It's also convenient that I can put one earbud in and leave the second one on my shoulder. Gives me the ability to hear what is going on around me if I need to be aware.
