I have the s7 maxv, and paid considerably more than this. My old Neato was working fine, but I wanted newer features that this vac provides. I just wanted to chime in and state, that even at the much higher price I paid, this vacuum is one of the top 3 purchases I have ever made for my house, might even be number 1. It works amazingly well.
I understand this is a different model, but I got the 7 MaxV Ultra recently and it is a freaking life changer. I have wood floors and a little bit of carpet with a husky, golden retriever, 3 cats, 2 kids, and a shedding wife this thing is a god send.
But it's still time you DON'T have to vacuum yourself, even if you can do it faster it literally frees up that time. Best time to run it is when you're at work or out running errands or whatever, which also kinda negates the noise. But even with the noise, when is a regular vacuum ever quiet?

I can understand some, even most, complaints but this one is a bit strange.

FYI - do your research before purchasing. I didn't do enough research to understand that robo vacuums take HOURS to finish rubbing and are quite loud while vacuuming.

I'm likely in the same boat as you...got an old Neato as well....what does the maxv give you over the regular s7?

Maxv has twice the suction

Sonic Mop? Did Guile hang up his fighting career to become an engineer for this company?

Genuinely asking. How do people have close to $700 to spare on a vacuum ? I don't get it. Am I that poor or is everyone else just that much richer?

Up until just a few years ago, I was using an Eureka from like 20 years ago (for which I had paid <$100).

Lot of people with money in the world. And once you are making enough money to be comfortable, you purchase items that fix things you don't want to spend time doing.

I don't have money to throw around, but what's it worth to you if you never have to vacuum or mop your floors ever again? I already had a cheaper Neato robot vac, and so I knew how helpful that was, so I already had a good experience with robot vacs to actually put down some serious money for a good one. I would never spend that much on a robot vac without ever having owned one before.

Anyways, back to the cost of this, this is no different than buying a fridge, washer, dryer, stove, or any other appliance. I think that you think it costs a lot, because you are not seeing it as a serious household appliance, and think it is more of a gimmick. This model is a major purchase but is also worth the purchase.

True story. After 12 years of saving money from Slickdeals, I think I am ready to purchase something like this now. YMMV.
Hope you will get to this level some day. Best of luck.

Exactly this. If you're following closely and you're frugal enough you can save money from slick. Or even make money. For instance I jumped on the 5/3rd new bank account promotion and got $375. Half of what this model costs. I bought the S7 and the autodock earlier this year for about the same price. It still amazes me months later. Stay here long enough and you will be making big boy purchases like this too.

Nice thing about capitalism and marketing, there's something for everyone. Nothing wrong with $100 eureka(I got my in-laws a $60 dirt devil) if that works for you. Some people want a hands free, automated, vacuum & scrubbing, self-empty robot.

It's definitely not silent, but still quieter than a full sized normal vacuum. Can also set to night/quiet mode. I sleep right through it (upstairs) while it cleans the kitchen every night.

Some things are worth the money. In my case having a toddler, marriage and work takes up most of my energy and time, i have this vacuum and its worth the money with the time and effort saved.

The app is pretty good allowing you to select which rooms to clean on command and it does good with obstacles and the scheduling allows you to not even notice it. i am surprised on how well it does picking up tiny objects.

Is this good for carpet with a bunch of scattered toys such as lego and hotwheels? I can't do automatic cleaning due to robovac always gets stuck somewhere.
