Actual runners know not to touch this brand at all. From the reviews I read, only the cloudmonster is acceptable as a running shoe. I would say that they look dope and I would wear them as casual shoes, if I wasn't going to be on my feet for too long.

People who claim that this shoe is soft and comfy are objectively wrong, and probably haven't ever tried a shoe with soft cushioning. Here is a google spreadsheet [google.com] of RunRepeat's midsole softness measurements. Lower is softer. As you can see, the softest On shoe is below the median softness, and On literally has the most firm measured running shoe on record. I know this particular style isn't exactly on the spreadsheet, but when everyone says the cloudmonster is On's softest midsole to date, that's not promising.

Additionally, the runningshoegeeks subreddit pretty much universally pans the On brand for running. Just go there and search the term "cloud". Some indifference around the cloudmonster and universally terrible reviews for every other on shoe

If you're on your feet all day, you can just fall for the medical community's hype around Hokas. Personally, I like brands that don't rely 100% on marketing and actually put out a good product. Brands like Saucony, New Balance, and Asics have some of the best tech in 2022, but they're certainly not your tech bro shoes of choice.

Recommendations: Check out Saucony Triumph 19/20, New Balance Fresh Foam More v3/v4, Asics Novablast 2/3 instead.

I need to dump on these sneakers. OnClouds LOOK amazing but I have not found their quality to be very good. Also, the design of the soles is EXCELLENT at picking up gravel. If you walk or run over any kind of gravel, the soles pinch, grab, and retain gravel in a really annoying design flaw.

Geez man. You are the reason why public education gets such a bad name. Let me ESPLAIN it to you like you dropped out of high school.

Never said these were tennis shoes. Again, read what was written and then respond.

These are running shoes that RUNNERS wear. Some prefer it some don't - like anything else it is a choice. I love them and I am a runner. Federe used to wear ON for running and the company approached him and Federer became an investor in them and then he decided to help create a Tennis brand with them. Tennis is a very new category for them.

ON is traded on the exchanges so look at their IR site and they will tell you all you need to know about their strategies and their approach to market.

Now where is that darn Block a Moron button on this thing??
The more personal attacks you make, the weaker your argument. It's called an ad hominem attack, as I learned at the private university I attended. You use a tennis player to justify your overpriced shoes, then you say they are not tennis shoes. Then you say Federer runs in them. I am done chasing your accounts. If you want to impress your friends with a new overpriced shoe, enjoy. If you want to pay less for what real runners wear and prefer, go elsewhere. When you find that button, please let me know. Also, who thumbs up their own posts???

On is not very popular with actual runners as they are considered too firm and too overpriced compared to other running shoes that offer the same or much greater performance.

On is very popular as an athleisure shoe and can be found on the feet of countless soccer mom's and dad's.

They have a reputation for being well made, but unless you get them on discount or just don't care about the cost and just want the look, you can get much better shoes for less money.
Thanks for the post. Some others are having trouble understanding that On are shoes people wear to soccer matches and picnics to impress their friends, rather than real running/tennis shoes.

"Objectively wrong" 🤷🏾 ♂️ ummmm ok. Regardless, it's truly a matter of personal choice. Some will find these wildly soft and comfortable while others such as yourself don't. How can one's personal taste be "wrong"

I find my wealthy friends wear these. I think it is a status shoe. Probably goes well with Patagonia.

I concede that comfort is subjective and I was harsh in claiming that but softness is quite clearly measurable and thus is objective. If people are looking for soft cushioned shoes they can do much better

much better = still subjective. you and satnav really need to learn the basics of opinions and subjectivity. Only satnav needs a side of humility to go with his opinions.

Just happened to be at Nordstrom Rack today and they had Hoka Clifton 7 and an On Cloud X. I have always wanted to try a Hoka and tried those on first and boy ir was a let down. First of all it was narrow and 2nd of all there is freaking way that this is a max cushioned shoe. I owned a NB 1080v2, Saucony Endorphin Speed 2, Triumph 2, Nike Vomero 16 and sad to say that the Clifton did not even come close to comfort of my other shoes. I then tried the On Cloud X was surprised that it felt softer and more comfortable than the Clifton.
