It more or less does not. I've had an S for years. So long, in fact, my battery warranty is about to expire. I have never once had a situation where it would have been convenient to be able to charge with CCS Combo 1. I have never seen a place that had CCS Combo 1 fast chargers that did not also have Tesla superchargers. Most of the time I pass by Electrify America or any non-Tesla fast charger, at least one stall has an out of order sign. It's amazing how poorly maintained non-Tesla networks are. Even Level II chargers, I rarely see Tesla ones out of order. I have half a dozen apps for 3rd party ones and they're broken all the damn time.

This adapter is the most edge of edge use cases. Perhaps if other manufacturers actually take advantage of Tesla opening up their network, crowding may be an issue, but that is easily years away. No reason to stress about it now if you do not have a specific use for this adapter in mind (e.g. you have a regular route where you specifically need this for some bizarre reason).

Do not shop accessories for your Tesla before you get your Tesla. Get the car first. Enjoy the car for a while. Then decide what extra stuff you want.

I get what you are saying (not all adapters are created equal) but it literally says adapter in the name.

For anyone having trouble ordering it, this is how I got it to work.

- Open the link on web browser
- Add to cart and log in
- Go the tesla shop in the app
- Item added to cart should reflect in cart on the app
- Check out and place order

Only for newer MY which have CCS enabled. Newer MX and MS might also have it, but not sure.

How much quicker kw does this enable one to charge as opposed to the standard j adapter. Is it substantial like from 72kw to 250kw?

I got 1! Planning to do DIY retrofit on my 2018. I modified the page in inspect element to allow the order so we'll see if they cancel it or not...

There are YouTube videos on how to retrofit this on non compatable cars Y or 3. Also, I believe you can get the retrofit installed by Tesla, might have to beg though.
