This is a great deal.
Purchased this from the previous deal but it has hardware issues. It worked for a couple of days and then just completely died. It could've been just me but this is the second time I've got no functional junk from eBay sold as refurb. I honestly don't think these are refurbished to manufacturer standards from my experience. Take it for what it's worth but BUYER BEWARE OF EBAY REFURBS!
At this price I will take a chance...just hope I don't get yours Scratchchin

How does the All State plan work? It needs to be registered?

That review doesn't mention the touchscreen (same with the Amazon link it refers to), so it might not be completely accurate.

Intel has a better known brand name, so they charge more considering that.
CPUs differ in many ways, including thermals and even bugs. But IMHO to the average customer, those aren't material, and what matters is some-unit-of-speed-per-dollar. Measuring that is imperfect and heavily depends on the benchmark and how the computer is being used, but as above, because intel has the brand name recognition, you'll almost always get more speed for your dollar with AMD.
Thanks.

I'm not new to this and I'm not against AMD in any way, I just don't know if their newer *laptop* chips keep up. I've seen/read some recent reports that suggest they still have a ways to go, but it's usually best to hear from people that are actually using one/them/etc.

There's always the game of specmanship which is useless in the real world (e.g., people think PCIe SSDs are so much faster than SATA due to reading specs. It's been nonsense for years unless you're copying files and most people can't actually tell them apart; heck, even I can't tell them apart in daily tasks. LOL Gen 5 could definitely change that, but that's a different hypothetical discussion).

BTW - I'm a huge supporter (conceptually) of what AMD is doing. Intel has been selling tiny performance increments (?) for decades simply because they could get away with it. We don't need more chip "binning"

Yeah, I'd take AMD any day in a laptop like this over Intel. AMD really has come a long way and is a true competitor now. They make some really powerful and efficient laptop CPUs. This should serve you well.

BTW - this same laptop is at costco for $599 new, and includes a 2 year warranty plus 90-day return. I may do that, not because I have money to burn, but I can drive 4 miles and return/replace it if it goes bad or has issues. Costco support is very good BTW....

I wasn't sure about the AMD processor, I loath Windows 11 (a real steaming POS in case you haven't used it) and it got so-so reviews possibly due to a bad wifi driver (my guess is that's why there's so many "like new" refurbs), but if anyone wants a new one...

$600 at Costco for new one is also great price! but almost 30% discount for refurb, I will roll the dice anyday. By the way, if you buy extended warranties from Costco, it comes from All State only, so the warranty is same.

This makes 0 sense. AMD vs Intel cannot be discussed unless you are pitting 2 specific models against each other. Intel has made great cpu's for generations. Yes in the desktop/gaming space the last few years AMD took the crown but then Intel released the 12th gen which are great for the most part.

My intel laptop cpu's never had issues as much as the AMD laptop cpu's (all the issues I remember with thermals were related to HP/AMD and some other brands combined with AMD cpu's.)
The issues with the AMD laptop cpu's were so bad that the GPU would stop working, things would de-solder from the excess heat. Horror stories, for real.

Good call on the Costco new one. If the ebay one is a dud, I'll be off to my local Costco!

Good to know, thanks! The first 2 years is from costco direct though. Any idea if this is a Gen 3 or is it 4 (which it should be). I couldn't find it in the specs.

Found it... Gen 3, which is surprising for a new laptop.

From this link on Wikipedia [wikipedia.org]it looks like Zen 3 based processor launched in Jan 2022. BTW Zen 3 is AMD's latest chips for laptops, which is 4th generation, they have Zen 4 architecture chips for servers, but not for Laptops yet.

My guess is that "bad" means bad wifi. I'm pretty sure they would have fixed it.

I meant PCIe NVMe drive. It only supports Gen 3 speeds even with a Gen 4 drive. I was only curious because I bought the 2TB SK Gold the older day (arrived yesterday and not installed in anything) which is purportedly great for laptops (lower power draw, cooler, etc.).
