The original, slightly brighter than the M12 and bigger, the second gen which is like 50% brighter and taller and runs on battery or plug, the "rocket light charger" that is like 3x as bright and charges a battery if plugged in, and the "dual pack" which can take 2x M18 batteries and is also over 2x brighter, has 2 different light spreads and is generally tougher and has the one key thing which I think is bluetooth or something to change more settings etc? The original is discontinued, the second version is slightly but not a lot more expensive, the last two are the 400+ dollar lights. That said the M18 rocket light moniker with a couple adjectives about features isn't the cleariest way to tell that there are 3 currently selling M18 rocket lights and why the price spread is so big. As to your original question, the M12 vs the M18 the 12 is lighter and runs on 12v packs, if you have 18v stuff as well there's not a lot of reason not to get the M18 imho, it's not much more expensive, has the same important features, and looks to be a good bit tougher in construction. The M12 isn't bad but it's not the toughest thing ever because in large part it's built light to stick with the M12 line's theme of strong but lighter/smaller tools.

I use my Ryobi tripod more because its brightness is around 5000K. This deal has no charger but I have a charger already so it wasn't an issue.

TBH, I think Milwaukee's marketing team is awful; if I can't read the main difference between a $200 light and a $600 light from the description, they aren't doing their jobs well.
This still seems like a good deal for a work light since it comes with batteries and charger.

Overall it depends on what you're doing with the light, if you're working outdoors or want to illuminate a whole room get the Rocket. I mostly use lights for working on cars on my back, so the Rover with its compact footprint and strong magnet sold me over.
I also wasn't a fan of the rocket design, the height is not really adjustable, it's fully extended, or if you want, not extended at all. Anything in between and the light comes crashing down on you.
