I have both, the forest green one comes with a bigger battery compared to midnight black. midnight black actually is too bright, if u look at it directly from say from 4-5 feet You will be blinded by it. I prefer the forest green one to midnight black.

The 2 pack lanterns aren't bad for $5 each. I fully charged one and left it on. Lasted between 2-3 hrs.
They are made out of cheaper plastic than the tough more expensive "rubbery" lanterns. I wouldn't drop these from a high distance.

The midnight black version of the 1000 lumens camping lantern has a 50% off coupon making it $14.88. Are there any advantages for the midnight version over the Forest Green version?

I couldn't decide, so got them both since the coupons both worked.

Did you look at the photos? They're completely different form factors. The Green one is too big/bright IMO. The midnight black on is awesome with a warm but bright light that doesnt blast your eyes. It's a great lantern.

If you want to hang overhead, the midnight black one is better. You can remove the top and hang it upside-down. It becomes a super floody downlight. I had one but then actually had to get a second one. It is really bright but it can be dimmed.

Sounds like you haven't used the dimming feature…

I have the 2 pack lantern, they're pretty good. I got 4 of them for like 18ish dollars. I like how you can put your own batteries in it, and the rechargeable battery is removable. It also has magnets on it, so you can stick it to any metal object.
