How does this compare to the name brand? I bought the target version and it's absolutely horribly thin and allows the smell to permeate through. Hoping this is better otherwise I'll just buy the name brand at Costco

All I've ever been told is to NEVER stray from the name brand. I've never tried it myself though.

These don't have a scent to mask the smell. When the lid to the diaper genie is closed it works but when you have to cut the bag for garbage day then it smells pretty bad. I think having a scent would at least mask it a little.

My wife and I have purchased and used all three: Diaper genie genuine replacements, Target branded replacements, and this model from Amazon.

This is how I would rate them from the best quality of materials used from best to least:
1. Diaper genie genuine (the best in durability and thickness, but most expensive)
2. This brand from Amazon (Mama Bear) (a good compromise from the genuine item, relatively durable, container is made of thicker material, and is priced well)
3. Target brand (thinnest, thinner plastic used for container, and bag gets "stuck" the most often)

Neither of the 3 really mask the smell when they are not sealed (sealed meaning tied off). The smells mostly come from the trap door when the lid is open given that the bag is not completely sealed. Diaper genie refills may include the odor remover pouch.
