Mine both say made in Germany. The holder might be made in China.

I agree, to a point. Chinese made tools CAN be well made, IF the OE manufacturer has their reps present, and they monitor the process and resulting end products to make sure they meet OE standards. Big IF. I understand that Irwin tools does (did?) this for the Vice Grips and other tools they offshored to the PRC. It shows. But, saying this, my preference for tools are, in order, USA, Euro (Germany, Switzerland), Japan, Taiwan made. With a very few exceptions, I consider anything made elsewhere "disposable" past their, if applicable, "warranty" fwiw. I avoid "Made in India" like the plague that they are!

I have a large mixture of tool brand in my shop and I do use Taiwan made tools quite often. They are really well made for the most part.

I have a set of Gedore, which is German but these are made in India. Man the finish is garbage. They are good for heating and bending or cutting for custom fit.

My impression is that Chinese mastered "what you pay is what you get" approach. So the slicker the deal is -on paper - the shittier thing arrives...

I bought one of each (metric and imperial). Got $2 digital credit, so effectively $2.85 each.

I bought these and they're so small I can't find them. I mean, I put them some place I can be sure to find them. I can't find them.

The Amazon info is wrong. These aren't Chinese. People who bought these the last few times around have reported that what they received was marked as made in Germany - which is probably at least partially accurate. KC Tools says that the holder and one wrench is German, with the balance being US made. https://www.kctool.com/wiha-35392...etric-set/

I'm aware of this set from previous posts and even posted a deal myself for the metric set at about the same price, many months ago. At any rate, I looked into the COO issue and it's even more complicated. The info you posted from KC (which is normally spot on) was accurate before KC discontinued this set. After that, KC had no interest in following up.

I checked Wiha's own website on this set. As you point out, the only 2 Made in Germany items in this set *were* the plastic holder and the 1.3mm L key. Well, if you look at Wiha's website, they provide a url link to each of the individual parts, except the plastic holder. Every L hex key in the set, except the 1.3mm were made in USA… but the 1.3mm, which previously was made in Germany, now show COO as China. So, the 1.3mm is from China, all of the 4 other keys appear to be from USA. Although, even that's not clear since Wiha discontinued the individual 0.7mm and 0.9mm, so the COO on those 2 keys isn't even available… they could possibly be from China, which may explain why Amazon lists COO as China. I can only be certain that 2 of the 5 keys are made in USA. The holder is most likely Made in Germany, because it appears Wiha is still packaging this set as "Made in Germany." That claim is VERY misleading and likely one of many reasons that KC Tool became fed up with Wiha and discontinued carrying ALL of their tools.

I experience the same thing. I prefer to use a precision screwdriver with bits for this small. Only use the Allen version if lack of space requires it.

But these are wiha so I am 8n.

Tip: buy two. Easy to break or lose. I'm in for another set.
Lose (misplace) yes- these are really tiny. Break- if you break one of these you are not using them as intended. These are some of the highest quality allen keys you can buy, assuming they are still the German version. Recent review is scary though, shows deformed tips on the long end. And yet that review mentions that they say made in Germany, go figure. I bought both sets back in March when they were a similar price. Mine look perfect. Will eventually use on a guitar bridge string height adjustment.
