FYI this is the basic plan; no Howard for those who care.

FYI, there's some other BS fee attached that ends up making the total $120ish. That said we did this last go around, I don't regret it.

I also was offered the 5yr for $150 that ended up being $180 after taxes/fees. $3 a month for XM is worth it for long trips.

The long-term subscriptions can be transferred if you buy a new vehicle, correct? My g37 is 13 years old now but still runs like champ. Plan on running it into the ground but who knows when that will be.

Nope note the best they said they could do was 2 years 120 I told them to cancel it.
Nope? I literally posted the chat transcript. It's YMMV, but it is possible.

I will strictly use the internet service in my car, not satellite. The sound quality is actually very good.
Bummer, wish I saw this before I did the $1 for 3 months deal (no NFL, I think, and you have to provide a CC).

Landing page had correct deal but was only offered $4.99 a month for 12 months after putting in info. For a 2014 vehicle that last had service just over a year ago.

For anyone who cares:

Average stream quality on Spotify or similar music streaming apps with a strong cellular connection is 320kbps or better.

Average mp4/3 audio stream quality:128-160kbps

SiriusXM: ~30kbps...

If you can swing it for free great! Otherwise, probably just good to be aware of signal/quality of your 'paid' service.

They currently have a 4 month free trial for inactive radios. Might want to consider doing that and waiting 4 months to milk the value a little more.

I got the 3 year/$99 deal on my 2017 Acadia via chat. When I asked the rep if I could transfer it later on, he first said "No, it was locked to a specific radio." I said hell no, then, cancel my service immediately. He ask me to wait a while, then came back on the chat and said he "guaranteed" they would work with me to transfer if necessary. So, I have no idea whether I'll be able to cancel or transfer later ... but I saved the "chat" as some sort of proof. But of course, most companies fine print always claim the policy overrides any statements made by representatives.

So for anyone wanting Sirius for free...

There is a "hack" if you download the Sirius app for dealerships. Any time you are parked within close proximity of a dealership you can use the app to activate a car.

The idea behind it is for dealerships to add a month or three of demo Sirius radio for new buyers. Well they can't track when you sold your car, so if your car ends up at a dealership and you use this app then Sirius will activate a free trial. I work near a dealership so I just renew via the app when I'm bored and eating Mcdonalds in the parking lot. Whenever it expires I just roll into a dealership and activate it again.
Which version of the app are you using?

I prefer the satellite version better than online. Online seems to repeat songs more often. It seems to default in replay mode instead of live mode. This happens with newer vehicles too.

The content is identical on the same satellite and internet channels. There are also extra internet channels not available on satellite because of bandwidth limitations.

I've been a paid subscriber to Pandora for a couple of years, but SiriusXM blows it out of the water. Better sound quality and selection. It also includes many Pandora radio stations to boot!

If you own new 2021 and 2022 vehicles, I think you can afford to pay $5 a month for SiriusXM!
