    There are different types of non-stick surfaces, some better than others.

    The other issue is people using metal utensils in non-stick, cleaning with green scrub pads instead of blue, deep frying or cooking in the oven at higher temps, putting in a dish washer, or over heating it.

    As long as you do not do any of the above non-stick is ok.

    Teflon is inert so if you eat it, you just poop it out. The dangers come from superheating the pan (i.e. leaving it on the stovetop with nothing in it on high heat to the point where the coating starts to vaporize.) This will kill birds before harming humans but even then the long term effects aren't totally known.

    The real issue with Teflon is in the manufacturing which has been found to cause some pretty nasty pollutants.

    For a simple saucepan, I can't imagine why you'd need nonstick anyway. Spend a little more and buy a stainless (preferably tri-ply) pot. You'll own it for life. This is an "own it for a year, tops" pan.

    Unless you're making candles or something and need a disposable pot. Then this will be perfect.
