Personal opinion, 1080p for a 27in (vertical) is not good. There are some use cases where this could make sense, or if youre eyes are not good, but I recommend waiting for 1440p.
Heck, a generic 32in 4K monitor will have the same horizontal resolution and twice the vertical...though I concede not as much physical space....but much cheaper.
Based on my experience, if you don't mind the extra visible pixels while browsing or gaming, this is the best choice. Other than this you've got dark matter's new 49" monitor, that will be on sale for almost the same price on Black Friday and AOC, which is the best one so far per my experience.
Physical size isn't everything. Some people want or need the higher resolutions to fit multiple applications at the same time. 1080p is hot garbage for that use case.
Can you provide a link or suggestions for something better?
I recently bought this 49 S95UA for $593.74, just got it set up and using it now. I am not trying to start a time machine debate, just giving input that $700 for a 3840x1080 49 Ultrawide is not a good call. I thought it was the CRG9 initially, now a CRG9 for $700 would be a good deal.

I have the 49" Samsung Neo for this application and love it
If you want the opinion of someone who used to own a 49" ultra wide, if you're using it purely for gaming don't bother getting it. Half the games you're going to play won't support the resolution properly and cause odd issues on the edges of the screen. The best example I could think of is how certain character models become short and fat when they're on the edges of the screen versus the center. Also the 1080P resolution of this size is absolute garbage. I noticed pixels on my 1440P Odyssey G9. I ended up replacing it for the gigabyte 48 Inch oled monitor.
