The only laptop you're finding for $200 or less is a Chromebook so please stop kidding yourself.

Trusting a "refurb" laptop. You're a braver man than I.

Refurbs, when by the company that actually makes them not a third party, are great. Particularly hardware that's just off business lease. All the Thinkpad s I've owned over the years were refurbs direct from Lenovo, zero problems. Great deals and bulletproof. Now if the laptop is garbage to begin with, before the refurb, then yeah I might agree. Depends.

It looks like 3060 is OOS. Don't see any units on the site.

The way I look at it is that there's very little in a laptop that can be refurbished before the cost is more than what you're paying versus a desktop with components that are less expensive and more easily refurbished/replaced.
Although yes very valid it all depends.

Yeah I definitely would always choose desktop over laptop unless you specifically need portability. In agreement there. I view a refurbished laptop as essentially buying a used laptop from someone, with the expectation that the battery may need to eventually be replaced (with a slight piece of mind bump vs buying from a random person off craigslist). Depends on the buyers comfort level and knowledge. I've always gotten the nicer model but with the smallest HDD and lowest (non soldiered to board) ram, and then upgrade the RAM with some used sticks and put an SSD in it, which might be a high bar to set for for buyers who don't know how to do that. But in terms of price/ value works out nicely.

i5-8th generation is supported by Win 11.
It's not the processor, it's the TPM module. But it looks like most of the 3060 line would be OK with Windows 11.

I just received the Dell 3060 micro refurb. 8th gen 6 core I5 8500T, 8gb, DDR4 SODIMM, 256 SSD, built-in wireless. Came with new power supply, wired mouse and keyboard. This looks absolutely new, not a spot or any indication of wear, inside is spotless, no dust, not a speck. I fired it up, hit Windows update, Dell drivers for a BIOS update and then grabbed a W11 upgrade. I have had great luck with anything with a FED EX refurb sticker on the back. Will be my new Big Screen TV hub. Tiny, cigar box sized.

How much did you get it for? Did it come with an HDMI port + display port? Any other pluses or minuses?

is it worth putting in fastest m.2 ssd? I read online it doesn't handle full speed like spec says and waste of money.
