Why is this better than a Galaxy Watch at a fraction of the price?
This is probably the most unhelpful comment I've read on slickdeals in quite a while. Enough that I had to logon to reply. The value of Garmin watches has been discussed ad nauseam and is easily found by searching online. No one is preventing you from buying a Galaxy watch over this

If you are asking this, it means you aren't in Garmin's radar and whatever exercise that you do can be supported by galaxy. That is good for you. You don't have to pay premium for something that you don't need. Just as simple as that.
IME Garmin won't offer warranty. Maps loaded May be different too.
You can load/unload maps from different parts of the world as needed. This watch being sold in Europe will probably be preloaded with that region's maps, but you can change that at any time using the Garmin Express app. One thing worth noting is that this model of the Epix has half the memory (16 GB) than the titanium + sapphire version has. This amount of memory can't hold maps for 2 continents. For the moment I have north America loaded on the watch, but I'll have to delete that map pack if I want to load Europe for example.
Another difference is that the titanium + sapphire version uses one extra GPS system (I don't recall how's called) so it should be more precise in edge situations such as hiking in narrow canyons or under heavy tree cover.
This is a fantastic price for this watch. I have had it since launch (I believe I paid close to $800 with a launch discount). I upgraded from a Fenix 6 Pro so I'm kind of used to the variety of metrics this watch provides, although I'll never take full advantage of all of them. This watch might be overkill if you're a city runner, I use it mostly for hiking/trail running, and I do ultra distance races from time to time where battery life is crucial. I did a 50 miler this summer and I kept the watch with all systems running and barely got through 40% of the battery, and it took me around 18 hours to complete the race.
One last thing I like about the watch is the brushed steel bezel. It not only looks great but the scratches you'll inevitably put on it will be less noticeable. My old Fenix 6 had a black bezel that was very easy to scratch, especially if you use it as intended. In the end, I plan to resell my Epix when it's time to upgrade, so keeping the watch in good condition is great for resell value.

Thanks. I did not realize the extra GPS on the ti/sapphire edition. I have the ti/sapphire and the bezel already has a scratch. I need to watch more YouTube reviews on how to use it, because as you mention there is a lot of things to do with it.

It's a whole different beast. Weeks of battery life instead of one day and the GPS track doesn't quit suddenly on an open water swim. Galaxy is a toy vs these athletic tracking work horses
