This bike (various sizes) was a May 2022 Frontpage deal for $168. The S/M/L sizes are still $168, yet the XL is now just $84.

It's usually not worth it. Too many components to change. Wheels and fork at the very least. Those alone would cost more than the bike.
Rim brakes can be better and lighter than poor disk brakes, and are a lot easier to adjust if you have to. Until 2020/2021, some pro cyclists were still using rim brakes in the Tour de France (presumably better brakes than the ones on this bike though)
