Looks like you can add another 12" speaker, the amp has lots of power. The reviews are great. Looks like the complaint is the reverb tank. That should be easy to replace for $30 to $40. I have a Fargen Blackbird and a Line 6 240HC so i am not in need, however, for the price I am very tempted.
Is this amp going to be onsale tomorrow? If so, it may qualify for another 15% off.

2. These Monoprice amps are great right up until the time you start upgrading reverb tanks, tube, and speakers. Then you are in negative equity territory and wish you would have bought a nice used Blues Jr, or the like which you can buy for $350 and sell in 5 years for $350.

Or a 100W amp. But if it's a good deal (not that this is worth the money) and it has the right features, why not? I have a 100W amp. I will never need that much power (except to startle my mother-in-law; works every time). I probably use about 2-5 Watts when I practice. I do not understand the draw of tube amps. Amp modeling, and EQ make them seem silly to me now.
Your point about money spent on upgrades is right-on, IMO.

take a look at the DETAILS - looks to be specifically excluded from the 15% off code. i'm hoping to line up a guitar tomorrow with this code/discount.

I was with you, up until the Blues Jr crap. The Monoprice 15W is better.
As for the 50W; it's nice but I think I'd rather get a deal on a used Marshall DSL(specifically) combo. Or just find a used Katana 100 MkII combo.

How does this amp compare to Soldano SLO-30 Super Lead Overdrive Amplifier Head 30 Watts that also use 6L6s?
That is my favorite amp that I cannot afford.

How does a Blues Jr compare to, say, the Fender Mustang LT25? (That's what I currently have.)

Well, the Blues Jr is the equivalent of the Monoprice 15W tube amp which is around $200 at it lowest. The Jr goes for ~$700. This amp is 50 Watts and has the clean and drive channels separate, not sure which Fender that would be equivalent to but my guess is that something equal in Fender of Marshall will cost you $1000.

1. Few people need 50W amps.
