Hands down one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Unique gameplay, excellent design and concepts that still hold up today.

I will always remember picking this up at my local Sears in the clearance section, mainly because it was a bright purple box that stood out amongst the gray, white and black boxes in the bin.

Don't sleep on this one!

Fun fact they are remaking this game apparently, and it looks relatively faithful, they even have the cheesy intro movie still with the fireball! Comes out in December so keep a look out if you enjoy this

The most played game as I was growing up. I think it was on 7 floppy discs? There's a tablet follow up that I can't remember the name of, bought it to support the devs but never really played. I'll grab this for the 90s nostalgia, thanks!

Great game! Play it without the "upgraded and rebalanced" mods in classic mode, if you can. The Artificer perk lets you make ANYTHING for your dudes.
The spiritual successor "World of Magic" was awful. If you absolutely need updated graphics, Warlock is a more suitable one, but this is a worthy game.

One of the best strategy games ever made -with tons of nuances most people don't even know about - try the unofficial expansion on GOG called caster of magic for more of a challenge and some balances.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. Hmm.... I hope it lives up. But remakes after remakes have consistently been letdowns after letdowns.

A lot of games don't hold up today on replay, especially with old clunky mechanisms and terrible graphics, but this one I still go back to regularly, despite being from the early 90s. Fun, unique, and occasionally copied, but not bettered.

If you search online you can try it in browser with dos box. I'm kind of on the fence about getting into GOG. I have enough launchers and even though I see an interesting title here or there for free, they're nothing that are actually going to make me fire it up and pick one those games I aspire to play, when so many more are ahead of it.
