These are commonly used as neck knives, but you don't necessarily need to carry them like that.

Fixed blade? Hmm, seems dangerous to carry around like that (even on your neck) without a scabbard/holster of some kind.

Edit: Nevermind, I see on the CKRT website it comes with a sheath. They should probably include pics of it on the walmart item page.

I just got mine and it's a sharp lil bugger. You would definitely want it in the sheath around your neck. It also came with cord.

Further down on Amazon they list the blade steel, 5Cr15MoV.

I really like this knife. I have used it as a neck knife but it's a little bigger than the other CRKT neck knives that I have (but still not large). It's confortable in the hand and doesn't feel like it would slip if wet. It's got a nice shape with a good blade and a very sharp tip. I liked mine so much I got one for my mom to put in a nice little pocket in her purse in case she's ever in need of a stabby implement.
