Wth lol. 5 inch is 5 inch. If someone ordered hoping the 5 inch screen will be bigger than your 6.1 inch screen on iPhone then clearly they don't know how simple numbers work and hence should have stayed away from ever purchasing any "smart" devices and then leaving comments about it.
Having said that I do own both Echo show 5 and 8 and 5 is definitely is small screen but it doesn't matter you use it mostly as a smart clock, to stream music or audiobooks and general notifications and stuff from Amazon. You can use this as a home camera when you are away and also use the drop-in feature to make video calls when you are away. And if you have it placed on your desk or pretty close to you, you can also it as video feed for your ring, wyze cameras and doorbells. But please be mindful that "5 inch screen" is actually 5 inches and will smaller in size than any screen which is larger than 5 inches..because you know that's how numbers work..

Alexa isn't great at answering random questions, but it's far superior for smart home devices than Google. I have a Google Nest Hub and a bunch of Nest Minis, and they're the buggiest hubs I've ever used. They are constantly disconnecting from my devices, crashing and restarting randomly, and respond to my voice less consistently than my Alexa devices. Alexa has been rock solid for home automation, and it's pretty universally agreed upon that they're far ahead of the others in that regard.

As always, it totally depends on your use case. I have two, one upstairs on my nightstand and one downstairs on my work desk. I use them primarily as screens for my Ring doorbell, to see if I want to go down/up stairs to answer it, to control my music, lights, and temp with Alexa, and to serve as a simple desk clock. They work fine for all that. And because of their location, I wouldn't want anything that took up any more space.

I don't get complaining about the size when the size is clearly listed. You know how big it is before you order. So if you buy this to watch Netflix or serve as a digital picture frame, it sucks, not because it's a bad product, but because you were stupid to order a 5" screen for that use.
I shared my experience. I don't get how that is complaining. But whatever floats your boat dude. glad you enjoy them. I don't. 🙄

I disagree. These make great Bedside Alarm Clocks. At night I can say "Alex set my alarm to 6am to Bob Marley music" and it works perfectly. You can even have it greet you and tell you the weather when you tell it to "Stop"
If you plan on using it as a TV to watch videos on the regular and aren't in somewhere like a kitchen or close by, then I see your point. But in a bathroom or kitchen, they do the job pretty well. Sound is also loud enough imo for things like listening to a YouTube podcast while doing things around the kitchen. Imo buying for $35 and expecting reasonable functionality w/o things like deep bass or a 19" screen, you'll appreciate this as much as myself.

Yes. They are perfect for that. I love mine specifically for this reason.

Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) could be worst Echo show, microphones gradually lose sensitivity.

How is this as a video doorbell chime? Currently have the google nest and it shuts off now every time the doorbell it rung (go figure). It's a known hardwire failure down the road due to how it sends signals to the in-home chime. Turning off that feature in the app fixes the shut-off issue but then I don't know when someone is actually outside, so I was curious if I can use this as a digital chime instead. Sorry for babbling on, but I'm sure people with the same doorbell will know my pain.

Some people should not be allowed to leave reviews. The screen size is listed. And just because you don't like the screen size, is that cause for a ONE star review? A one star should be reserved for items you got that didn't work at all or broke in the first day of use, or some form of fraud was involved. He got exactly what he paid for, and it worked as it should have.

After using echo dots for many year and then buying echo show, felt its worse than echo dot, it will give you hard time when you compared with dot.
If you are thinking about digital frame, its not good at that too, cropping is worst.

The 1st was terrible to hear or slow to respond. People said it was a software issue that seemed to never got fixed.

I think they do something on purpose to make you upgrade like every other electronic, but that's just my thoughts.

The screen isnt that bad if you are doing light use of it. I have it on my desk top and It seems fine. Now if you are looking for something like a tablet, then get the bigger one, but 5 inches is like 2 index finger length on avg so do the math

Yes… and no. It doesn't always show how much time is remaining, but it will tell you how much is left on demand and/or once it gets down to 10 seconds.
