Wow, great deal. We went to the one in Stonecrest, Georgia before (some Groupon deal). Pretty small place in the mall. They charge extra for feeding or entering the enclosures of some of the animals though. The general admission is just to view the animals. Worth checking out though. They had some sloths and they were awesome. So cute.
If we care "at all"? Hope u provide that "high horse" u r riding with proper veterinary care.
Less than 10% of USDA licensed zoos are on their list.
100% of USDA licensed zoos have to pass the inspection by demonstrating full compliance with the Animal Welfare Act.
Cost of license $40 a year.
AZA accreditation requires a non refundable filing fee of $3500 -$15000 and initial deposit of $1500-$2500 for expenses (flights, lodging, meals, etc etc) of inspection team. Remainder will be invoiced after each member complete their expense forms after the 2-5 day on site inspection is complete.
The application is 32 pages. Supporting guides/policies/questionaires number over 250 pages. The application takes "many months" to complete and 6 months for AZA to study and review.
Rinse and repeat every 5 years.
Uncle Billy's goat farm/fawn rescue petting zoo can take treat their animals in the most excellent fashion. But Nope, he can't care about animal welfare as a non accredited petting zoo or wildlife rescue organization and neither do you or your kids if u visit.
You should visit only AZA accredited zoos and aquariums if you care about animals.
Like Sea World. An AZA member upholding their standards of Animal Welfare for the last 35 years of their accreditation!!!
