Because I don't play any games that involve raytracing or DLSS, I would buy an AMD product as it's going to cost less and draw less power, thereby resulting in better cooling in my gaming PC.

I don't see DLSS being adopted as much as FSR. The consoles will use FSR which will transfer pretty well into AMD cards. Even the Steam Deck uses FSR. It won't be as good as DLSS, but it's crummy to see that Nvidia made DLSS 3.0 exclusive to the 40 series. That in itself should be a reason not to adopt Nvidia's tech.

Yeh that's a SWEET deal for a MERC319 CORE 6800 XT. I bought that. Lowest that thing has ever been on sale has been around $600. The 6600 XT i bought back in april for $460 is ready to be retired already. lol This hold the line crap has to stop. If your looking for a deal, this is the time. We are at that point just before a release of a next gen, and AMD just issued new price drops on MSRP's of up to 30%. This is it. MSRP after the price drop was $599 on the 6800 XT, and $699 on the 6900 XT. If you want it, BUY IT.

Ok that's funny

That's said sorry dudes. I caved. 570 is kind of what i was looking for or there bouts. I've been as pissed as anyone else about these prices more so. I swear i have gray hair now over the nvidia thing 4070.
No one should feel any shame about buying this or the 6800 XT card as linked in the thread. These are below the new MSRP discount prices, you are getting a steal regardless. Just a shame that BH hasn't had any deals on these as the payboo card can let you skip paying the tax.

This card at $570 would literally be less than 60% of the MSRP price of an AIB card too. I am just thinking about the video game crash in the mid 80s when Atari flooded the market with too many ET game carts. This isn't the same of course because these are kind of tools to run games. The way I see the market going, the AMD cards are the ones to look out for on discounts and price drops. I see the 6900XT still dropping but probably up to $529 or $499 before rebates and coupons at best. and that would be on the worse brands like Yeston or ASRock. The top brands like Sapphire will probably only go as low as $550. These companies are technically already losing money at these prices. I say, any deal lower than $550 either with a coupon, rebate, or credit card coupon/sign up deal is good enough to me.

I don't know man maybe, but i LOVE your cheapness. I bought this but i' right there w/ you.

You start talking about Atari ooo. boy we could be friends. them the days. I'm just ecstatic that everyone is fighting so hard to get these prices back down. I absolutely love it. Long time coming.

Yeah this is exactly what i've been waiting for just like my 1080 ti for 450 before it! And it's the brand i really wanted too --- no overclock quiet simple. Done! wwoo hoo! the last couple years sucked. Back to Amd. I really hope they price their new generation well. it's much better for this community to have decent affordable options.

Oh, I'm not that cheap that you think I am. I caved already when the Asus 6900XT Top Ed (XTXH binned) was $759 in Amazon. I haven't opened it in case something else better comes up but I think I'm content with it. The XTXH card blows the 3090 out of the water in performance.

Performance wise the 6900 xt beats the 6800 xt everytime. As far as tiers go on the aib side, merc is top tier, swift is lower end. But you're talking about very subtle differences there when it comes to models within an aib partner. Like maybe a 2% difference in performance between a swift and merc if they were both the same card. If the extra 100 is within your budget. 6900 xt all the way, no ragrets.

yah, open source that' s another thing why i like amd. and since they have good drivers now we can do business.

- FSR open source + consoles
- linux support fantastic

Nvidia does a ton of innovation but it's all proprietary. Think of how this goes. hair works, physx, dlss 1, 2, and now 3 which is actually like a breaking changes. there might be a history lesson in there.

Nailed it pretty much. There is only so much the retailers and partners are going to be willing to take a loss on these. This is in my opinion the last hurrah of unloading inventory before 7000 series drops. This is almost at the rock bottom.

Agreed, you always buy up . the one 6800xt i saw was only about 50 different. That's why i went with the 6900xt. the cards are very close, but you do get about 11% more compute units. i think it's like 20-25% faster in theory, realworld depends but you get the idea.
Cost wise about 12% more money. I was ok with it. That said they are both pretty good, and if you feel and stress going up that high 6800xt is really fine

The cooler is similar They are using a lot more plastic though on this. I might pay about 10-20 bucks for a fancier model personally. That's probably all the more they put into it.

These cards are clocked right where they should be they will run with very little heat it's not like an over clock card. It makes a huge difference when you pull them out of where they want to be.

Intel think about this:

I'm bringing that up because if you want to see as low as possible that's it. Intel is just starting they are going lose a bit on each of these cards, and everyone (aibs) have that understanding from the beginning. Even that card which is slower than this (3060 level) is 329. think about that. This is not that much more in the 500's. And there is no way they are selling it for anymore than they have to.

yeah sure you buy tech it will go down but this is 500's it not at all like people buying it at a grand. You might loose 100 over the next year maybe, but not at all certain, but you'll be gaming and having fun with a 3 year warranty. To me that's just like a typical tech purchase at the best of times, like a tv or anything. It's not stressful i feel i'm getting a good value. I price those parts it's probably close to what im paying. 16gb of ram a chip board and electrical compoents and a cooler etc.

I want prices back down too, but this is good, finally after years of insanity. Honestly i feel like thanking newegg for helping here and working this hustle. It's got 16gb of ram and will be great for years. People 6 months ago were spending 2 grand for this stuff i get the rage.

PS I'm going to buy that intel arc as well as this w/ 16 gb as for a work machine because i think it will have mad value and use it for ai, and frankly i care that much they are successful, and i know it's going to be a screaming deal. But just think about it this isn't far from that and it is still going to be capable for years to come with fantastic software support built on console tech just scaled way up.
