Yeah but they issue is finding a zwave or ZigBee etc switch that is both smart and has a motion sensor built into it
You can just add a motion sensor to the room and do the automation your self in smart things. They run about 25 per room than you can avoid the chance that the company goes out of business.

Don't sleep on Leviton switches. The current generation ones allow you to be able to use remote switches that link to the main switch. So you can make a single pole a three way.
Leviton are 2x more on the price.

Any way this will work on a two way switch circuit? Laundry room has two switches for one light. I'm guessing if the one switch is always left off, which it usually is never used. Would that work?
Would this motion switch fry if someone turned on the other switch?

You could open the unused outlet and bypass the switch by combining the wires
Treat it as a junction box…
Just a thought

wifi isn't the way to go if you need this many...
People who don't really know always say this. I have 55 of these on a MIMO router, and that same router serves all other devices as well throughout the home. Been this way for 6 years without a single issue.

I will admit, I was surprised.

Yes true. But infinitely more reliable and simply work every time. I'll take consistency and reliability over cheap every day when it comes to home automation.

Leviton are fantastic options. Their price is fair as well. But let's not knock kasa as I have installed these in multiple locations for clients and as of yet to see any issues with them. The app is smooth and integrates well. Both are fantastic options but kasa tends to offer sales more often.

If your router is good enough it won't matter. Mine can handle 150 devices so my 20 switches barely makes a dent, plus switches are not using hardly any wifi other than the brief moment you use them.

Kasa/TP Link make good switches with more software options than any other wifi switch. In a perfect world I would replace all mine with the new Lutron Diva/Caseta that uses zigby, not wifi. But $70 per switch vs Kasa at $15-20?

As for this switch with the buit in motion sensor, unless the software has recently changed, you can't use the sensor as a trigger for alexa routines. It's much simpler to just buy a separate motion sensor and smart switch. Then if you want to disable the sensor you can just spin it around against the wall

Can you use the motion sensor to switch on other kasa switches? Does it work independently? Also does the motion sensor need the internet to turn on the switch? Does the motion sensor turns on the switch directly or just sends a wifi signal to the switch?

Would it be cheaper to buy a motion smart thing and a smart switch separately?

No, but if you already have a zigbee or zwaye hub then you could get a sensor for about $15 and the Kasa dimmer for around $17. Many more options going this route.

In my closet I have a motion sensor but sometimes I just want it dark so I keep the sensor on an upper shelf facing up. Then if I want the lights on while in there I simple wave my hand over the sensor.
