May be of interest to some, as this deal is back in stock. Price has remained steady at Woot. And yes, it's Open Box
I think it's a super close decision between saving some dough, getting extra VRAM, extra power requirements (including increased heat dissipation) vs the newer RTX 4080 12GB (aka RTX 4070 Ti), with it's higher cost, DLSS 3 advantages, lower power consumption due to smaller node size.
Nvidia really screwed up the pricing on the 40xx generation, and surely costs will continue to drop - it's just a question of when.
FWIW, I'm very interested in the 24GB VRAM for Stable Diffusion and other AI locally hosted apps, DaVinci Resolve Studio (the minimum VRAM floor for 8K editing is 24GB), CAD rendering.
Not sure how much additional downdraft there will be on these prices, but the risk on the secondary market, like eBay, is ending up with a truly 'mined-out' card. Not to say that Woot will be super safe in this regard (Woot is like a 1.5 market).
Deal is OK, but the currently viable one, since the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 at $800 is out of stock.
