This is a generation behind the Kindle Paperwhites. If you are in the market for this Oasis, consider a Paperwhite Signature Edition before pulling the trigger. The biggest differences between the two are:
Oasis has physical page-turn buttons instead of just a touchscreen on the Signature Edition
Oasis has a metal back and different form factor (not sure if it's a pro or con either way)
Oasis has a sliiiiiiightly (0.2 inches) bigger screen and a few more LEDs, but nothing terribly noticeable in real-world use
Signature Edition has a more modern USB C port and wireless charging; Oasis has the older micro USB.
Paperwhite Signature Edition is currently on sale for $135 for 32gb version; Oasis 32gb version is currently $199 on sale.

When it comes to feel, one handed reading and page turning the Oasis is king. Oasis vs Paperwhite is like the difference between holding an iPhone vs a cheap plastic android. The genuine leather case does give the paperweight a slightly better sturdy feeling but being able to turn the pages with a button is the key. I have kept and still use my Kindle 5 when my Oasis isn't handy for this very reason.
Great timing on this deal. I recently lost my Kindle Voyage and was in the market for a replacement with physical page buttons. I read a lot outdoors in the colder months so the buttons are a must have.

Prices were cheaper during their Prime Day sale in June and they are having another Prime Day on October 11-12.

Looking at reviews, it seems most people get the oasis for the page turn buttons. I read on my commute in all kinds of weather and physical buttons are so helpful. Actually kind of mad the new Kindle Scribe won't have them. Might get a backup Oasis in case my old one dies.

In all seriousness it's a good price. I do wish they would update it though to USB-C. Also, the ad-free model appears to be $20 more.
