If you have a family of 5 and all have computers and phones, thats 10 right there. Share with your relatives. Cheaper than the 3, 5 , 10 user version anyway.

All Norton products are like that. Just cancel auto renew once installed.

Why are so many people interested in purchasing antivirus? Genuinely curious.

If you keep windows updated along with windows defender AND dns based Adblock (free) plus uBlock Origin (also free) on browser you will be protected and enjoy an ad/tracking free internet.
Nextdns & adguard dns are great and mostly cheap for personal use.
Never seen a virus with this setup.

The more pertinent question is why does it bother you so much what other people use? It's just a piece of software. If Windows Defender works great for you, that is all that matters, isn't it? Who cares what other people use?

I use it because I trust commercial antivirus more than a freebie. I'm not interested in continuing argument though. It's just to let you know since you asked. I use it. So do my clients both at home and for their small business workstations.

does the software stops working after 1 year? or you are just stuck with old definition file?
The latter. It will still run, but you're at a greater risk of 0-day exploits.

20 devices, not 20 users. A home with 5 people who each have a computer, a tablet and a phone makes 15 devices.

You don't need this. Windows Defender is free and good enough on its own.

Does it work with windows 11
If you are running Windows 11 then you don't need any third-party antivirus software.
Clean install Windows 11 version 22H2 then turn on Smart App Control and install Isolated browsing.

Bought this with the credit card I normally use but got an email that it sold out and they couldn't deliver.

Thought WT….? How can a virtual program sell out?

Tried again with a seldom used credit card and the order went through.

Long long back when I used Windows, the internet providers used to provide free antivirus. I don't know if such programs have been scrapped for cost cutting though, you may want to check with your provider once before jumping into this.
