Well of course these could be used to create a different "physically" and logically separate network.
The question then would be whether you want to bridge / route / whatever the camera network to
the network that has your other stuff on it, or if you want the new network to connect to the internet
at all and if so how etc.

Just keeping it totally independent as a network unconnected to your other home network and
unconnected to the internet is probably easiest and best for security segregation though I don't
know if your cameras or camera related computing stuff needs internet access or what based on your
setup and tolerance / preferences.

And IDK what kind of client devices connect to resources on the camera network (DVR, phones, laptop, tablets, smart TVs, ...) and if so whether they'd do that wired or wireless and regardless of that if those devices would
be multi-homed connected to internet / home network / camera network pseudo-separately or one at a time
or what.

So yeah you're probably considering a good choice to set up a distinct special purpose network.

Would this be a good way to create a second wifi network with my current Netgear Mesh system instead of using the built in guest network? I'm tyring to offload my ip cameras off of my main router and network.

I was able to create a seperate network on the new router and moved all my cameras to the new router, and have not had any issues since. This seems to be a great price on a wifi 6 router/access point.
