Not compatible with any of the prior generations - no smart speaker - can't tell if it has a microphone - I use my current nest points as mic locations for smart home commands , isn't clear that these will still support that function but appear not to.

You're right it probably does not, but I think the quality and the speed should be phenomenal on this one

Doesn't look to have 4x4 MIMO, so wondering if the range will be less than Nest Wifi AC2200?

4-pack at Costco for $450, bringing cost/unit to $112.50: https://www.costco.com/.product.1693615.html

All units are identical, so you should be able to split units across households. I'm going in on this with a friend....

there is only one route/base unit and 3 extender units. now sure how you can split this with a friend.. you would need to buy another base unit at $200 for your scenario to work. ultimately saving $50 on the 3rd extender unit.
You're thinking of the Nest Wifi kits. All of the new 6E units are the same.

I stand corrected! totally missed that. I just read it was another mesh set up. I get why the cost is what it is now.

Why on earth they will not make it compatible with last generation.

I was thinking of adding couple but now problem solved. Probably I will buy older router on sale sometime and save money

Good find, hopefully will be further discounted during the holidays.

No backwards compatibility is very disappointing. Google loves killing their products off. Looking at my Nest Secure, Google WiFi, and many many apps throughout the years. What's the best alternative…Eero?
