So goddamn tempting. I hate dropping that kind of coin knowing that I'm sacrificing serious performance when it comes to ray tracing.
I own a 3090ti and a 6900xt. I play Destiny 2, in this game, no ray tracing, the 6900xt is faster, by quite a bit. I grabbed the MSI at $619. Sweet deal IMO.

Oh it undoubtedly is. I'm just thinking long term since there are definitely some games on my buy list that utilize ray tracing to great effect. I don't see myself getting a new card after this purchase for at least 3 years, if not longer. Hell, I've been rocking my GTX 970 for almost 8 years and it's still going strong in Destiny 2.

In that case, I'd probably wait and see what the new AMD cards have. Hopefully better prices than Nvidia's $1000 4070, err 4080.

Yeah, that's what I think my plan is going to be at this point. I initially held out for the 4000 series but we all know what a fail that launch was. Might as well hold off one more month and see what AMD is cooking up. Really hoping for a hard launch too.
I wouldn't buy any of these right now. Newegg is doing another competing sale to Amazon's prime day part 2. They haven't really been dropping prices on these for the last couple weeks (I paid 630 for my msi gaming x Trio back at the beginning of September) so I think newegg is holding out for that sale in a week(?).
To be clear. This is still a good price and you'll love this card. But I think you'll get it much cheaper (probably with a rebate) during the sale.

These two blokes discuss the 6900xt at 37 min but at the 39 min mark if you listen for a minute they summarize the situation.

newegg doesn't play nice.
