Lol you might want to take a look at those studies bud. You would need to have basically every square inch of your room/living space covered in plants to have anything close to a significant effect on reducing VOCs. Unfortunately, they still won't take care of filtering particulate matter, so you'll need a filter regardless for that purpose.

Nooo not the Winix. My dad has a lot of breathing problems so we have a few of these throughout the house (as he loves Costco and buys everything from there). Every one of them makes a horrible loud whining noise. I could see one of them being noisy but all of them? That aside I will note that they do a good job otherwise and catch a ton of dust and pet hair and such. The price is good so if you aren't too bothered by house noisy it is then it's good.
I still run my wac5500 on auto for 8 years virtually nonstop and a 5500-2 for four years now. The noise is audible when it ramps up, for valid reasons for a few minutes which is sort of the point of cleaning bad air. The 5500-2 goes in sleep mode as that was annoying at night though with the wac5500. Also the two I gifted and visit occasionally do not have issues either. Those must have been all bought from a bad batch.

I own four of the Winix c545 all let everyon here know a few things. They really do help with air quality dust etc but every unit I have I leave on 24/7. Each one of these units now make's different noises like whistling or grinding. I have taken apart 3 of the 4 units and tightened every part, nothing fixes the issue. My solution is turning them on turbo and the noise is almost unnoticeable.

I get an error trying to order the 5410i, tried different cards. Any ideas?

Got mine today. Two filters were already installed in the unit (just have to pull them out and remove the plastic wrapper). Two more filters are sealed in a separate box on the side. So it needs a pair of filters to work all the time.
You bought from Blueair or Costco?

Dust magnet? If you open it up, does it just have a nice, black dress shirt in there?

Check the CADR on the lowest setting. Air purification is probably not worthwhile unless you put up with the noise. If you're letting non-filtered air stay in the room for any significant amount of time, why bother getting a machine at all?

Fyi Blue Air is not a true HEPA filter.
IMO deceptive marketing, it also has a built in ionizer they don't mention that can't be shut off (source of ozone air pollution).

Some other brands like the Winix from Costco also have ionizers (plasma wave tech), but at least they can be disabled.

Indoor air quality scientists & experts recommend against Blue Air.

Here's a link for one of the best & cheapest (similar to Winix), it's sold under many different brand names & retailers ~ $61 w/ coupon at Amazon & replacement filters on sale for ~ $15
