The hassle for a lot of people is more of finding one, hoping it is a good one, ordering it, etc rather than installing it on the SSD.

I always wondered why they didn't make the nvme install itself toolless when they standardized the M.2 connector like memory instead of requiring a screw.

If you're planning on getting this drive for the PS5, grab a M.2 Heat sink from Amazon. They should be $10-$12. Without one, most drives will overheat, and force your PS5 to shut down.

Why no retail (reseller)discounts? Kingston wants to keep all the profits by selling direct? Crucial swiped away marketshare from Amazon a few years back by undercutting them on price for laptop memory.

Kingston doesn't seem to get the major large retailers for a lot of their stuff. Either they have low volumes to supply them or their margins aren't enough to accommodate the large discounts big retailers want. I don't think this is out of choice.

I hate when they say it's "PS5™ Ready", but doesn't include the heat sink.

Yeah...I guess I could install one myself but not sure if i want the hassle.

The $10 kit takes less than ten minutes to install. You line up the thermal pads on the drive, and then you screw the enclosure back together. There should be six screws as well. I've installed multiple Heat sinks. No issues whatsoever. The Western Digital 1TB SN850 was $109.99 recently at Amazon. The Heat sink is preinstalled so it's essentially plug and play.

That's a valid point. I remember when Sony initially did the PS5 teardown, and I instantly thought a lot of people wouldn't upgrade their internal storage. The PS3/PS4 required you to open the console to install a new drive. The PS3 was a lot easier since you didn't have to take part of the panel off. The PS4 Pro might've been different than the standard PS4. I can't remember.
