That's how they suck you in, cheap tank, then the rest adds up...

over $500 invested in a 10 gallon tank the last 1.5 years, plus when your kid starts naming them, and they slowly die off one by one month after month, the trauma and replacement costs add up.

Good starter kit, my daughter has had her beta fish almost 18 months in one but the LEDs in the lid didn't last long. I bought one of those led tv strips cheap that works taping on backside

ah I see. my kid loves fish, but we've never had a fish tank. when he goes to his grandparents, he stares at the tanks for what seems like hours.

just got the 20 gallon as a starter, but I think eventually i'll want to buy a huge one

yes once you get one well it snowballs.

I do like my 40 gallon I'd love a massive 100 gallon but no real room for that size.

but 20 is a great first tank.
Get you nitrogen cycle going. Starting out can have highs and lows but it's addicting and fun. Enjoy.

I know people need to read, but shame on Petco for the image they use. They really should just show the bare tank as they do in the second image, instead of a full starter kit with lid, etc.
