I was about to check out the C545 from winix site but ended up buying it from Costco instead; it is new and comes with additional filters. Winix refurbished one does not seem come with extra filters

I'd suggest just going for the Costco option instead, I had a refurb where the fan started to go, Costco has the advantage of extra year of filters and easier returns.

filters only cost 17 bucks, you can buy two of these and only be out 30 bucks, based on the Costco's price for a new one.

I can confirm this, I got two for 150 total, entire filter kit costs 17 bucks on Amazon., both look brand new and wifi connected with no problems to my AX10000 router

I wonder how good this filter is? There's only 22 reviews with mostly from people with free product review. If the filter is not doing the job then the price doesn't matter.

Very happy with my purchase so far. Grabbed 2 of the C545s for $70 each and they look brand new.

I don't care about any of the wifi and plasma wave nonsense. I just turned them on and will leave them on until they break, which will hopefully be a few years from now.
