I have the Google mesh Wi-Fi (the older version) with the Nokia T-Mobile gateway. It is very fast, but I am seeing a lot of network drops lately especially on VPN. Is it worth it to upgrade to the Arcadyan gateway or these new Google Nest mesh routers?

I'm a huge tmob supporter. But the home internet didn't work out for me. Download speeds way to inconsistent.
And over past week, numerous Tmob customers, cell and home have had data connection problems, where you get disconnected from internet even though have full bars. Takes a minute or two to come back. The eggheads on reddit are helping tmob troubleshoot.. Something about ipv4 tunnel exit.
Problem seems to be the worst in New York State.
ask for new gateway that fixed my issues

A friend of mine has this and he has issues as well. We online game and he's contantly complaining about high pings, lag, and having to move or reset the "box" (he calls it that) to try to get a better connection. He does say that his connection was much, much better at his previous address so how good (or bad) it is likely depends on your location.

I'm looking into it to avoid price hikes from Spectrum, from what I gather it's essentially a glorified cell hot spot, with some added features-TM
I may try the 15 day trial and see how it goes, setup a separate home network and compare speeds against spectrum. I am tired of the yearly call and threaten to cancel game to get a better price.

For this most recent widespread problem, the device doesn't seem to be an issue. I no longer have tmob home, but see the ipv4 exit disconnect on multiple phones. Something weird on tmobs backend I'd suspect.. Beyond me.

Works for some, but I had tmob home over a year again.. Everything work just OK for me.. But being an occasional gamer, pings weren't good. I suck at online games as it is, so last thing I needed was another disadvantage with cell internet.
Wife works from home, so an overall faster and more reliable internet is worth the extra for us.
Tmobs home was $50 while spectrums is $75. These days, $25 isn't that much money.. Hell I piss away more than that in coffee per month.. So Spectrums somewhat less aggravation is worth paying for until we get another provider in area.

I already have a two nest wifi system (one router, one point). I think adding one router on a diff level of the home may increase coverage. But I wouldn't buy into this system if I didn't have existing router/points. The new Pro models don't work with these older gens.

Can one of these be added to an existing mesh from another brand?

Mild deal. 2 pack on Amazon are 150
What the what? This is $54. Two of them would be, oh, I don't know, like $108? Isn't that still much better than a 2-pack for $150?

I just got the 2 pack (router + point) on sale at Target and decided not to keep it. Very basic options on this router. You can't manually set the channels (Google search says it does it for you but it did an awful job for me because it selected channels all my neighbors were using). You can't set different SSIDs for 2.4 vs 5. And the signal strength was weaker is different areas of the house - even in direct line of sight across the short living room. I was surprised.

The deciding factor was that my current network has extender nodes that have a different SSID but same password (since it's all my main network) and about a third of my smart devices are connected to the node SSID. Since I couldn't set different SSIDs with the Nest router I tried to get around it by using the guest network, but it wouldn't let me have the same password for the guest network. So I'd have to run around and manually reset/re-connect various smart devices and I really didn't think it was worth it at that point.

If you decide to get this I'd suggest you leave all your current stuff in place so you can try the Nest out but still have the option of reverting easily if it doesn't work out for you.

These only work with Nest Wifi or older gen Google Wifi points.

Nice. I just signed up for tmo home internet yesterday. I'll want to get my router and try it out before I order these. Hopefully this deal stays live for a bit.

Interestingly Xfinity doesn't even try to offer me anything and told me it will be sad to see me go but they can't stop me.
