Well if there are 5, that means 5 people will get them.

I think there will be a lot of these available.

And this is just a tactic to convince a lot of people who wouldn't install a smart speaker, to buy a TV with a built-in, always listening, Alexa device instead.

Add it to your wishlist. Alexa will notify you with a yellow light 24 hours before deal goes live. Once that happens ask Alexa to buy it once it goes live. You don't have to track when it goes live.

Though people need to calm down on the witch hunting, this was a prime example of misinformation spreading through comments and the Q&A section.

Nowhere on Amazon did they mention this, people were just trusting on other people's words that they did. I've been following the post from the beginning and there were no articles or posts on Amazon that stated this specific discount on this specific TV at any specific time. The only confirmed language was "up to 70% off select devices", with no confirmation of which devices it would be.

If there is no specific link or article directly stating a date and time for a deal, it becomes speculation and should not be posted as a heads up.
That's simply not true. Amazon's official blog stated clearly that this specific tv would be 80% off. No "up to", it was clear.

The point people are making is that SD should not have made this their front page deal without verifying what you just have detailed. Lets see.. still day and half left...hey they still have it in the Hot Deals thread..Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

(Could be big April Fool's joke!)

Edit. now the OP is on it too! They did not say 80% off what...lot of assumption made for this deal.

While there were no posts on Amazon.com, there is this post on AboutAmazon.com which is an official Amazon-run page. And it states that you will be able to "Save 80% on the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series 55-inch 4K Smart TV with hands-free Alexa". To me, that is more than just speculation (about the sale happening and the TV that will be on sale, not the specific start time).

Here's a recap for everyone checking in this morning! Feel free to provide corrections.

OP originally saw the following post on the official About Amazon blog: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/...best-deals

This page is managed and run by Amazon. There is still a possibility that the information is wrong, but that seems unlikely. OP calculated the $112 by taking 80% off of the $560 MSRP. As far as I can tell, there is no other official listing for this sale.

Originally, this post linked to the actual TV (based on the wording in the About Amazon blog post): https://www.amazon.com/amazon-fir...08P3QVFMK/

Based on previous sales, it was assumed that the TV would go on sale at 12AM Pacific time (3AM Eastern) this morning. There was confusion due to time zones and limited information, so people stayed up until 12AM Eastern and then 12AM Pacific, but there was no price drop. The pitchforks came out many times (and are still coming out!)

After the price did not drop at 12AM Pacific, the Slickdeals editors changed the title of the post to indicate that it could be on the 11th or 12th and changed the link to point to the Upcoming TV deals page on Amazon for the Prime Early Access Sale (10/11-10/12). There were claims that this TV was seen on this page at some point, but I never saw that. There was also confusion after the link was changed because some people ended up on the 55" 4-Series 4K UHD Fire TV page which is on sale for $360, but that is a different TV. (Remember, we are after the Omni TV).

From what has happened, it seems to me that the Slickdeals staff have no inside information on this deal and are trying to give the best info they have. Amazon has provided very few details on this, which is making things more confusion. People are upset because they keep trying to get this deal and feel like they are wasting their time. Some people actually think that Amazon or Slickdeals are intentionally deceiving them and that there was never any intention of this TV going on sale (which seems absurd to me).

So, at this point, we do not know when (or technically if) this TV will go on sale or even if it will be today or tomorrow. It seems like the best option is to keep checking on this thread for updates. Be careful as there are some trolls in this thread pretending to get the deal or to have seen the deal and many other people that are just confused as to what is happening, so you probably want to double-check any details that are posted. Good luck!
Got it.

While I do agree with you to a point..I thought the whole idea of this site was to TRY or ATTEMPT to help folks save a few bucks..? What's the difference between finding a brick and mortar pricing error..posting it, only to have people feeling let down because orders were canceled..after having gone through some time consuming effort to try and seize on the deal. I think the OP was quite clear with their post.."probably too good to be true.." ...simply raising awareness... It wasn't a printed black Friday ad in the newspaper..and I think people should exercise good common sense, knowing this was pure speculation..with some the best of intentions on the OP's part. If people choose to "waste" their time..thats on them my dude.

Well, it really was too good to be true. Kept refreshing the page and it won't go down from $509. It was a lie.

I hope they have a lot of them like Target did for their TV deal. No "sell out in .2 seconds" and then relist for the regular price
