Yes it is, but unfortunately it can't run in dual-channel as 4GB is on-board.

So I guess the first 8GB will run dual channel.

Still a bit pricey for Intel Xe. We need 3050 OLEDs under $1000.

I didn't even know they still put 4GB sticks in laptops... much less soldered in. Very disappointing.

Let me tell you that it definitely is.
Been using a laptop with 8GB RAM since Feb.
I work with 8-10 tabs at least everyday with 1-3 apps running in the background, and so far it's been working absolutely fine. It all depends on your use case scenario.

Anyway, that's beside the point because the RAM IS expandable. It just won't run in dual-channel.

Whoever thought of and designed a laptop with 4gb soldered ram in 2022 on anything but a low budget unit (this is not one) should be fired from his job. If they had soldered 8gb and left an empty memory slot it would have been a different story.

This is a horrible deal. I could pull the trigger at $700, not $900.

If use case is media consumption (also giving up ram upgrade), then this is way better for $500, $550, $600 currently:
