Only 8000 mAH.
Why would you need more? as 800amps is more then enough to start most cars. 8000mah is a indicator of how long the energy will last.

is there any indicator how long this might last [unused] before necessities re-charging; Rather, how frequently would someone need to to confirm whether needed re-charging or not?

I know however I gift this to will absolutely forget about it until they actually need it.

Don't know about this brand specifically. But with other brands, I put it in the car and forget about it and it's always been charged enough to use when needed. At least until it fails, which seems to happen after several years with these kinds of devices.

If you read the manual (I know - nobody does) for most of these jump starters, it'll say "Store the power bank indoors in a cool, dry place when not in use." Hot temps as well as freezing temps are not good for it. But then again, it kind of defeats the purpose of owning one and not having it with you in the car if your car battery happens to fail while you're away from home. Smilie

The other predicament is that to have all the juice you need, you want to have it fully charged, but storing Li-Ion cells fully charged for extended periods of time is actually detrimental to their life. So yeah, don't expect these jump starters to last very long.

Maybe eventually there will be some capacity dedicated to prolonging unit life, like how SSDs have some "extra", and charging will shut off when like 80 or 90% is reached. Until then, with 8000mAH, something like this probably has enough capacity for 3-4 extended jumpstart uses, so charge it up and then use the battery or light to knock some charge off, and toss it in the trunk. My read of the storage instructions is that ideally, you'd be storing the unit in the trunk of a car that lives in the garage, which would shield it from really extreme temperatures, but maybe don't plan to store it on the back deck in the winter or a wood shed in the summer. It is an automotive product and reasonably will be stored in or with vehicles.

Hete in AZ, my garage gets to 100+ regularly in the Summer and 90s most of the rest of the time.

I have RAVpower units and I live in DC. Both the units are 2 years old. Every 3 or 4 months, I top it off since they lose around 10 to 20 percent charge. Even at 80% charge I can boost my van multiple times. So in general they are pretty good. Monoprice generally are good .

Cause I want to use 12v to power other things. Longer is better.

I've got several jump starters with 18-20K mAH for that purpose.
I have large usb battery packs ...but they do not jump start a vehicle.

Add the PSL code then on the cart you have to remove the extramile code that auto applied for some reason.

It depends where you store it. Extreme temperatures will have influence on how long the battery charge will last. Ambient temperature will probably discharge 50% per year.

I have a 20000 mAh and indicator says I use 5% for every crank (3.5L). So that's roughly 1000mAh per crank. Basing from that, an 8000mAh you can roughly crank 8 to 10 times before battery gets depleted. So after a year of no charging, you should have at least have 2-4 cranks left. Again, size of engine will definitely have influence on the numbers of crank.

I say charge float it regularly for maintenance once every 2 mos or so.
