I know someone's gonna ask. This is not compatible with a ps5. It needs to be a gen 4.

But not everyone needs that and in real world, I doubt most people could tell the difference. Boot times for a large AAA game are within a second or 2 tops for all SSDs sata to Gen 4 NVME. And if this is used for movies or photos it makes absolutely zero difference.

With my 1.3TB/month Comcast cap, it would take me 30 years to reach that if I wrote every byte I downloaded on to this drive.

Can someone explain why I shouldn't use this drive for writing large movie files or OS boot?

Good upgrade for most people's daily PC/Laptop as boot drive.

Another good use would be for NAS.

I got for it. All my rig is now NvME with 3 inside my computer.

There is no cable management.

In the future I hope for a mobo with five NvME slot.

This is just what I was looking for as I had $125 in Amazon card points. I picked up a Zenbook 14 with a 5500u (6-core), 8GB of 4266mhz, Geforce MX-450 2GB, and an anemic 256GB NVMe for $360. As a light travel/gaming PC I don't need much but the NVMes coming with Windows machines are not spec'd for the task. This drive is more than enough now.

If you're asking, you'll be totally fine with this one. It's a budget drive, but the price/performance ratio is fantastic at this price. For the slightly more in-depth explanation, there are a few factors that make this drive worse than some other drives:
  • It's a DRAM-less drive, meaning it doesn't have a DRAM cache. Such a cache provides extremely quick-access storage (e.g. higher than the rest of the drive can swap data back and forth). This sort of cache is beneficial for an OS like Windows, as a lot of background processes will make use of it. Unless you're very exacting with your computers, though, it won't make much of a difference.
  • The TBW (Terabyte Write Hours) is relatively low on this drive. TBW is more or less a measure of endurance- how much data can you write to the drive. While it's relatively low on this drive compared to other drives, it's not something that would come into play for the vast, vast majority of consumers.
  • It's a QLC drive. QLC stands for quad-level cell. Other abbreviations you may see are SLC, MLC, and TLC, with each corresponding to the bits per cell (1-3 bits per cell respectively). The higher the density per cell, the lower the performance and endurance, generally speaking. Again, though, it's not something that will matter for the vast, vast majority of consumers.

good for storage but don't use it for OS installs.
Y'all need mental help. I'd rather put an OS on the cheapest of cheap SSD than the best HDD. For some reason the techbros has slurped up all the marketing BS as if inexpensive SSD tech are made to deliberately fail.

Very tempted by Inland's low price, but would this TimeTec SSD be much better and faster with DRAM, and 1800TBW, for only $11 more?
