A couple things to note on this set. The washer is super loud and buzzer on dryer is obnoxious. The tops are not flat so anything you put on them will slide off. There is no agitator (some models come with a removable one), so you will need to use deep water cycle to get your clothes clean. And the dryer door opens down, not sideways. So getting clothes out isn't as convenient.

I recently got a samsung dryer and I am not happy with it at all. It's a great looking dryer and their mid-range priced model. The warranty just ran out and it's starting to make noises during drying and I am really concerned I will have to replace it soon. I remember when these things last 10+ years and now I might have to replace every 5 or less.

How is the whirlpool washer alone? I don't even need a 4.6 cu ft one. Care most about durability and that it can just wash clothes effectively, that's really it. 4 cu ft or less is probably fine. Do they all have electric magnet locks now or can you buy a washer where I can open it and just stick an object in the door button so it keeps running while adding something or just wanting to see if it's working right.
