Walmart [walmart.com] has the Arcade1Up, Atari Tempest Legacy 12-in-1 Cabinet for $199 + Free Shipping

FYI - This is the "Basic" model with no riser or light up marquee. Also, this may be the model with the trackball that needs fixing or lubricating out of the box [youtube.com] so it doesn't break down.

About this Cabinet
  • 17" Color LCD screen
  • 12 Games in 1
  • Real-Feel Arcade Controls
  • Coinless operation
  • Adjustable Variable Volume
  • Custom shaped "Cabinet" design
  • Printed Coin Door Graphic Kickplate
  • Assembled Dimensions (LxWxH): 22.75 x 19.00 x 45.80 Inches (w/o riser)
  • Included Games:
    • Asteroids®
    • Centipede®
    • Major Havoc®
    • Missile Command®
    • Akka Arrh
    • Crystal Castles®
    • Tempest®
    • Millipede®
    • Gravitar®
    • Liberator™
    • Asteroids Deluxe®
    • Space Duel

To me, this is one of those cabs you want for the special controls with a spinner and trackball. Plus...it's friggin' Tempest! And you can make a $10 wooden riser box to your height and paint it black (or go all out and order custom Atari/tempest graphics to put on it).
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

OP, this does have a light-up marquee, HOWEVER, this is the "old" (inferior) cab that came out over a year ago going by the Walmart pics of it.

This one in the video below is the newer and imo better version (note the differences in the marquee - this one has the slanted marquee). I believe the vertical dimensions are also bigger and is much more playable than the older one w/o a riser needed (proof if this is in this video of a 6'3" man playing it WITHOUT a riser:

The real arcade tempest has this slanted marquee. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&...g96BAgBEEw
I like the game list.... but man if it had Marble Madness I'd be so in...
So $199 looks to be the new low for these cabs. That's a lot more palatable.

Thanks for the info. I will find out tomorrow if it has the light up marquee as shipping says I will have it by end of day. I see now that you point it out that the marquee is not slanted. Not really an issue, but not exactly like the original arcade cab… not a deal breaker for me but will be a plus if it does light up.

I pondered on this cab when it was on sale at Kohl's. Pondered too long and it was gone. I have the ArcadeLegends dual control panel, a Visual Pinball cabinet, and the only A1Up I have is the PartyCade Ms Pac-man. This will look nice in my game room.

OP, where are you getting the materials to make a $10 wooden riser for these? A 4'x8' piece of MDF is around $45.

I have the version with the riser. Got it for Christmas last year. Can't remember what I paid for it ($250?), but I got Nordstrom to price match and then used a bunch of Nordy Notes to pay for it. Nice cab. One of my favorites (second to my NBA Jam).

If it had Rampart and Marble Madness, I'd pay full price for it.

They're just clearancing them out for the new stock. This isn't a permanent price change.

That's interesting; every review I've seen for this particular model (Walmart No Riser) says it doesn't have a light up marquee.

Edit: I went back on Reddit and read the reviews; this model definitely does NOT come with a lit marquee. Mine is being delivered tomorrow, so I'll confirm it then; but I'm 99.9% sure it does not have one.

Edit2: mine showed up today, but didn't get a chance to build it. The box, however, makes zero mention of a lit marquee (they generally do mention it on the ones that have it) and the photo doesn't appear to be lit.

Edit3: As predicted, the marquee is NOT lit. It's a standard printed graphic on mdf.

If this was the one with the riser and light up marquee I would bite but not this version. The Simpsons for $200 was a good deal but these stripped down barebones cabs not so much. 3/4 of the reason I enjoy these is the nostalgic look of them.

While I respect this one for actually having a trackball and spinner, it's still a bunch of needless ewaste for the average consumer not building a bizarre man-cave full of imitation arcade machines. Just emulate on your current pc through emulation using your much better monitor, speakers, and save $200. Do you really remember how tiny a 17 inch LCD appears, or how bad the ergonomics of an arcade cabinet are? If you're considering this you're probably graying like me, do you really want to hunch over?

Pull a CRT monitor out of the dumpster and you'll have a way more faithful experience.

I say take that $200 and build/buy a truly arcade quality fightstick with spinner and trackball, spend the leftover cash on important things.
