$1,200 for an AVR with HDMI 2.1 switching and real speakers from legit HiFi manufacturers is insane! You could buy a bunch of circuit boards and resistors and a soldering iron and then check out tons of books on electronics engineering and manufacturing from your local library and spend the next 48 years studying them 12 hours a day and then build your own receiver and speakers from scratch for way less. And all those components would be upgradeable AND user serviceable.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the bang-for-your-buck point, but the convenience and compactness of a high-quality soundbar surround system can be worth the cost to folks.

This argument/debate comes up with soundbars all the time and it's misguided.

Soundbars are not designed to compete with an actual speaker setup.

They are designed to improve sound from a tv with aesthetics & convenience as a main priority.

I get what you're saying and its funny. But just being more philosophical here, if you think about what it takes to make something, even toilet paper should cost a lot. Fortunately, economic works closer to supply and demand. Otherwise I'm not sure I can even afford what I'm wearing now.

Great deal on arguably the best soundbar + sub + surround available. I spent $1600 and it was worth it coming from an Energy 5.1 system with Pioneer AVR from 12 years back.

As a Samsung HW-Q90R owner I can confidently say Samsung soundbars are not worth the money. Atmos isn't great, they still have rear speaker connection issues, for this price you can get high quality bookshelf speakers and a sub, it may not be wireless but worth the money.

I own this. I had some issues with the subwoofer connection being flaky, but it seems to have resolved itself over the past month. Maybe a software update? Anyway, this replaced my 5.1 AVR system. It sounds significantly better. The best part? It took 15 minutes from opening the box to having the system up, running, and tuned. Try doing that with an AVR. Another bonus, no holes in my ceiling or walls for speaker wire.

While I understand the point you're trying to make, but you lost credibility for me, when you called Sony out as just a TV maker.

Sony rocks and kicks llama's ass, when it comes to sound quality. Even when compared to some so called specialty audio equipment makers. Looking at you JBL!.

Sony is serious sound and isn't in the league of Samsung, LG and Vizio of the world, when it comes to audio gadgets

Go ahead, check this system out at a local store. You'll be happy you did.

Oh and yes, outside of audio, and maybe consumer TVs, Sony blows, lol.
