My Tesla came with an adaptor to plug into NEMA 14-50 outlet. So will using JuiceBox make any difference in charging speed? It should be very similar, right?
I have similar setup and the Tesla mobile charger with 14-50 plug tops out at 32amp for some reason. This juicebox will do 40 amp so it is about 25% faster. I am not ungrading though, the mobile charger does the job just fine.

Tesla Wall Charger is only $400 and goes up to 60amps. But if you have a Model 3 standard range then you are limited to 32amps.

FYI you can still get 30% off tax credit for the entire installation of the charger up to $1000 total. That includes the EVSE itself and whatever the electrician charges to install the outlet and connect to your panel. Just fill out this form on your 2022 taxes https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-8911

Also, note that the cord in this charger from Costco is only 20 ft when the standard one on the Enel JuiceBox website is 25 feet. Still saving $150 from Costco but worth noting if you need that extra 5 ft.

One more note. My local electric utility gives a $125 rebate for a select few chargers including this JuiceBox. It's worth checking your local elec company to see if you can get any additional rebates. https://www.chargingrewards.com/f...minion-ev/

In a rookie in EV game. My Tesla model Y is scheduled to be delivered in January - February… what's the difference between this juicebox and a wall charger directly from Tesla? https://slickdeals.net/f/15758515-wall-connector-24ft-400

Check with your electric provider. Several of them offer car chargers at a discount. This exact model is $449 with my provider. If you are in a major city worth a check.

No. The new tax credit is only for purchases and installs starting Jan 1 2023. It is not retroactive.

Agree - I got mine (this exact model) for $200 through a program offered by our electric provider.

Make sure 20 ft cable is sufficient; if your 240 outlet is somewhere deep in the garage, and the charge plug on your vehicle is on the opposite side, etc. etc., the cable may be too short or you'll have to park a particular way for it to work, which may be annoying at least.

Other chargers have 25-26 ft cables and as we all know, every inch counts.... Smilie

Compares to EMPORIA ENERGY Smart Electric Vehicle EV Charger, 48A Level 2, Energy Star/UL from Amazon which one is better?
Both are $500 now
I went with the Emporia Energy one since it supports up to 48A charging with hardwire (comes with 14-50 plug too, so you can use with 40 amp or less. I just don't see why one would pass up the roughly 20% faster charging speed for a UL listed charger if they could - this is the fastest UL charger at this price point.

I will say that I have an ancient "dumb" Juicebox 40 charger which has been solid for the last 5 years or so, so I have no specific complaints about Juicebox, just Emporia has a better product for charging speed.

For your situation there's likely no benefit to getting the juicebox over the Tesla wall charger. The juicebox (and nearly every other non Tesla charger) will use a j1772 plug to connect to the car, while Tesla's plug is proprietary. To use the juicebox you would need an adapter.

The juicebox can charge faster than the Tesla mobile connector, but not faster than the Tesla wall charger.

Yes sir! But we are referring specifically to mobile connector with 14-50 plug. Mobile connector is maxed out at 32 Amp. The wall charger is great option but it is hard-wire only and the new ones only go up to 48 amps. The Gen2 60amp ones required 80amp breaker.

FYI - If you are in Georgia and get electricity from Georgia Power, you can get this exact charger for $449 with instant rebate. Other Electricity providers may have similar setup.
