Lmao good luck getting a response out of the other guy. This is a great beginner wheel and more than enough for beginners, especially at 200. Just because it doesn't have direct drive gearing or as fancy of materials inside it gets dogged on by enthusiasts who spend over $2k on a setup and then wonder why more people don't want to buy in. Like I said, this is a great stepping stone and a (relatively) cheap way to find out if the wheel life is really for you - not everyone really likes it once they get a setup going

This is a great deal for the G920. The PS4 / PS5 Model G923 is still $350. The older G29 wheel is $199 as well so you are getting the latest G920 wheel and pedals for the same price as the old G29.

I have been researching these for the last month. The best ones are direct drive wheels. But typically run 1k+. Starter DD options are either fanatec or the newly released Logitech G pro. Given it's my first wheel and I'll be lucky to find a couple of hrs a month to actually use these I decided to go with starter wheels instead to get a feel.

These are a generation older than G923 but from what I understand not much different. So decided to save $150 and get these.

If I remember correctly (feel free to chime in)
The G29 is the PS/PC version with more buttons
The G920 is the XBOX/PC version with fewer buttons.
Both can accept the add on shifter.

I purchased the G29 with the shifter for use on PC and it has been great for my intro into sim racing.

The price has been 20-30 ish lower depending on the model.

I would suggest getting a stand that allows you to mount the wheel and pedals, unless you have a nice sturdy desk.

Can you explain DD for a newbie? How does it compare to something like this Logitech?

It's a good entry wheel. While I don't think $200 is a banging deal, it's a decent deal since it was about $170 or maybe $180 during prime day.

If this was the G923, then it's a great deal.

G920 Xbox buttons wheel
G29 Playstation buttons wheel.
G923 newer model wheel that comes in both Xbox and Playstation with new Trueforce feedback and stiffer brake pedal

All are compatible with PC

The g920 has a small motor, and gears that use a gear ratio to provide force feedback to the wheel. It's cheaper, noisier, less accurate (less fine details when you're moving multiple gears), and due to gears having teeth there's chances it can skip or have spikes in torque. These might have all been major issues with issues 5+ years ago, but now you can get quality force feedback (which is a MUST if you get a wheel, immersion is totally broken on the $90 wheels that don't have feedback) at an entry-level price, just with less detail.

Once you step up to direct drive rigs you typically have to buy the base separate from the wheel itself and the pedals/shifters are sometimes separate as well, everything is quieter and machined metal but much more niche and expensive.

Not to mention that once you get that high in price you typically buy a nice mount for it all and then a nice racing chair, and attach all of that to a 6-degree-of-freedom motion simulator which is $3k+ by itself.

There is always better performance and immersion to be had, but for a miniscule fraction of the price gear or belt-driven wheels like everything Logitech has made (before the new direct driven Logitech Pro) and lots of the cheaper thrustmaster wheels are great for beginners and those that don't spend hours every day in a dedicated racing setup.
