For months, I'd been keeping my eyes on getting a mega-storage MicroSD card.
Why? It'd be in anticipation of getting a newer phone.
Then guess what?
I FIND OUT THAT ALL OF THE RECENTLY RELEASED PHONES CAN'T USE MICROSD CARDS CUZ THE MANUFACTURERS REMOVED THE FEATURE!

And not just that...
The phones DO NOT even have auxiliary headphone jacks anymore! That's just... dumb! Even portable gaming systems have headphone jacks!
And why are these missing? Cuz it's all about MONEY.
Alleged reason:
> One reason phone makers love to lose the jack: thinner bezels. Thin is in, and a smaller bezel footprint allows for a larger screen without adding to the phone's overall size.
Actual reason:
> The company's own wireless earbuds ought to sell better when its phones lack a wired headphone jack.
And back to the MicroSD thing?
Alleged reason:
> According to one manufacturer, 'We have found that having both a MicroSD slot and on-board storage can be confusing many users'.
Actual reason:
> But now that the phones don't give you the option of using your own MicroSD card, the consumer will be forced to choose between the different versions of the phone they're thinking about buying-- as in, having to choose between the 64gb onboard storage, the 128gb onboard storage, or the 256gb onboard storage. Of course, the price escalates dramatically with each higher storage option.
When something is new and improved... IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO REMOVE FEATURES!
I find it frustrating.

That's right.
Nintendo tried this stunt back in 2003, with the Game Boy Advance SP.
In that case, though, Nintendo did wisen up, and the NintendoDS quietly reintroduced the headphone jack 1.5years later!
Is it really so much to ask of Samsung or even Google (re: their Pixel phones)?

1: do you need two? Or just one card?
2: is it for gaming? If so then this Samsung A2 card is better. A2 rated cards have a much higher random 4K read speed vs A1 cards (4000 IOPS vs 1500 IOPS). This stat is the most important for gaming. Sequential read is kinda irrelevant at this level.

I heard ya. feel the same. That's why i am rocking A52 5G instead of the latest galaxy. It's cheaper as well as allow for microsd and also a headphone jack while still have the oled screen and other features.
sadly, google also locked down chrome and limited many apps ability to use ext storage. My favorite aviation app Avare no longer want to support ext storage of flight charts due to the additional "trouble" that they have to go thr to implement it ;(
