It's been this price before during sales. Never on Amazon though. Fwiw, microcenter has 'refurb' (some are new because I've seen them) for 1799 for months now.
Hey buddy, the most important feature on an Oled is peak brightness, A80J is superior.
Rtings is only a reference point, many other prosumer and professional calibrators plus the community have already tested these tvs sides by side and confirmed this.
There's nothing wrong with being wrong, my only issue is someone speaking on a topic (yourself) that you clearly have no education in.
A80J is superior to the A80K and therefore a "rare" gem that's actually worth more
Peace
If that's your view then a c1 or c2 with the evo panel is superior to this - people prefer the Sonys who do not game for their processing abilities.
Peak brightness the evo panel always wins, which last years Sonys do not have
People claiming the Sony 77s all have evo panels are incorrect just fwiw to make an informed decision majority of them were wbe - see avs
That said this is a good deal, no major differences YoY in woled

Will add on to what another commenter said about the glossy panel on the 77 A80j vs other sizes. The 77 used LG's Evo panel which LG now uses in their C2. The reviews on rtings are from the smaller panels, so for image quality the G1 or A90j series rtings profiles will be a bit closer to this TV (although the brightness is slightly limited on the A80j due to inferior thermal management vs A90j).
At the end of the day, expect the 77" A80J to be similar to the C2 in image quality, maybe barely worse, with slightly better software. I have a 77 inch A80J I got for $2300 and have absolutely loved it.
Smoking deal - just ordered one. Opted not for the 4 year Asurion as the Credit Card added 1 year warranty -- didn't think years 3 & 4 coverage was worth the $167.

Where else has had it at this price?
