I heard the Makita was also one of the best option for palm routers. But that and the DeWalt is twice as much. Bosh makes some of the best full size routers so I would think this would be perfect for someone on a tight budget.
That being said if you are in the market for a small lightweight trim router for quick roundovers/chamfers or veneer trimming etc I would grab whichever is on your battery platform rather than these corded models. For that kind of work dealing with a cord can be infuriating.

I guess it comes down to a) will this be your only router and b) will it need to fit in a lift. If the answer is yes to both definitely go with the 1617. If you have a smaller 1.25hp trim router and you wont need lift compatibility then consider the MRP23
