When anyone opens or closes it with the app or even with the remotes that came with the garage door opener it sends an alert to the app letting you know it was opened or closed.
When closing it via the app, a beeping sound not very loud goes off for about 15 seconds before it allows it to close. This is just a warning to anyone near it.
It took me about 10 minutes to install each one. You can set a schedule in the app to close your garage door at certain times.
I am A.D.D. and get distracted easily and forget it is left open. So the automated schedule allows me to make sure it's closed before going to bed each night. Yes, I could check the app and it will say it's either open or closed but the automation is a nice backup in case I don't look at the app.
It has allowed me to remotely open the garage door for my wife when she took my vehicle and forgot her house key. She was able to go through the door in the garage to the house.
It has been worth the money a 100x over.

I get constant false alerts about the garage door being open and the low battery indicator in the app doesn't go away even after changing the battery.
I would not recommend this and would rather have the actual garage door opener.

ps. I have two of these and hate them. by default, you can only CLOSE the door by voice. to open, you need 3rd party hack that is no longer supported. also, the app takes FOREVER to load/connect.
normal sale price, but I'd recommend steering clear (and getting a $15 esp8266 based one that'll just work 100% of the time)
